Seeing Jerome's expression turn increasingly grim, the hand gripping the receiver trembling slightly, Andrea's voice involuntarily weakened.

"Jerome, that woman did it on purpose. She just wanted to sleep with you to climb the social ladder. When I got there, she got scared. She took millions of dollars before she finally agreed to never mention it again and leave."

Jerome's gaze turned somber. Unsure if he believed her, Andrea let her tears fall even more pitifully as she continued.

"Seeing you unconscious, I was worried she had done something to you, so I had someone help you home and called a doctor. Jerome, I did it all for your own good. I was afraid you'd get tangled up with a woman like that, which is why I hid the truth from you. Did you run into Kimberley? Did she say something to you?"

Jerome didn't answer. He just shot her an icy glare and moved to hang up the phone.

Andrea immediately panicked. "Jerome, what you promised me..."

Jerome paused slightly. Looking at Andrea, under her expectant gaze, he said ruthlessly.

"What did I promise you?"

"You just promised to protect me and make things better for me in here. That's the only reason I told you!"

Seeing him refuse to acknowledge the deal, Andrea was so desperate she wanted to smash the window.

But her shoulder was still aching, so she had to hold back, looking at Jerome with a shattered expression.
