A warm smile touched the man's handsome features. Catching Lizetta's gaze, he immediately stepped forward to meet her.
Lizetta's eyes welled with tears as she sprinted toward him. Seeing her slender form rushing in, Remington instinctively opened his arms.
"Boss, your shoulder..."
Standing right behind him, Cedric noticed the movement and anxiously eyed Remington's right shoulder, offering a worried warning.
Remington completely ignored him, his lips pressing into a tight, displeased line.
Taking the hint, Cedric clamped his mouth shut and wisely took a step back.
Lizetta reached him without slowing down, launching herself directly into his embrace.
The impact made Remington stumble back a step. He frowned slightly, but his arms wrapped tightly around her.
Answering her overwhelming emotions, his deep voice murmured with incredible softness.
"Our family is never going to be separated again, okay?"
Breathing in his comforting, familiar scent, Lizetta finally lifted her head, her red, tear-filled eyes locked onto his.
She nodded emphatically, needing to hear it one more time.
"Is Joy really safe? Is he actually okay?"
She gripped his arms. Though he had called her the moment she boarded the plane to tell her he had successfully rescued their son...
...and though she had wept tears of joy right then and there, a lingering dread still haunted her. It still felt unreal.
Understanding her lingering panic perfectly, Remington pressed a kiss to her reddened eyelids and smiled.
"Of course he is. Joy is perfectly fine. He's waiting for us at the hospital."
Hearing the verbal confirmation finally brought a smile to her lips. She grabbed his hand and began pulling him toward the exit.
The moment the words 'took a bullet' registered, Lizetta's heart seized. Even with him standing right in front of her, every drop of blood left her face.
She scanned him frantically, her voice trembling.
"You were shot? Where? Why didn't you tell me? I didn't need you to come get me! How could you be so reckless?"
She was terrified and frantic, tears spilling over her lashes in an instant.
Though Remington secretly reveled in how much she cared for him, seeing her cry tore at his heart.
He shot Cedric an icy glare before pulling her back into his arms to soothe her.
"I'm fine. It's just a scratch."
"A scratch? Since when is a gunshot wound a scratch! Where did you get hit?"

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
