Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1274

Lizetta began walking toward the door, hoping the kidnappers would take the bait to check on Eartha.

Engaging them in a conversation was the only way to stall for more time. However, the person on the other end was highly paranoid.

After only a second of hesitation, the altered voice snarled maliciously.

"No need. If you try to play us, the kid pays the price!"

The moment the threat dropped, the hooded figure abruptly opened their arms.

Lizetta watched in sheer horror as her baby plummeted. A sickening thud echoed through the speaker, followed immediately by Joy's piercing, terrified scream before the feed abruptly cut to black. The call was dead.

Staring blankly at her phone, Lizetta jabbed her trembling fingers against the screen, desperately praying for the image to return.

Her entire body shook violently. She wanted to scream, to roar in absolute devastation, but the sound died in her throat.

Her vision blurred into a sea of red. The only thing looping in her mind was the horrifying image of her baby being violently dropped, while his agonizing cries echoed relentlessly in her ears.

It was so brutal.

He was so tiny, incapable of speaking or articulating his profound terror.

His wails were his only way of begging his parents to save him, and yet, watching it unfold, she was entirely powerless.

She couldn't do a single thing...

"Liz! Liz, don't hurt yourself! I'm right here!"

The deep, frantic voice of the man she loved snapped her back to reality.

Blinking through the haze, she realized Jerome and Nelson were crowding around her.

Their faces etched with profound concern, she noticed the voice had actually come from Jerome's phone.

On the screen, Remington's eyes were bloodshot with matching anxiety.

She immediately spun toward the authorities. "Captain, did you get anything? I didn't stall them long enough, I..."

Her voice trembled violently. Seeing her utter distress, Nelson stepped forward, placing a weathered hand on her shoulder as they both looked at the captain with desperate hope.

The captain was a seasoned veteran. The call had been brutally short, but he had brought his top-tier tracking specialists, along with an elite expert flown in by Remington.

Just as he opened his mouth to speak, the officer manning the tracking console shouted out.

"We've got a lock!"

The captain's expression sharpened, and he practically sprinted toward the monitors.

Lizetta's eyes flared with renewed life as she rushed after him.

The tracking expert and two assisting officers stood up, pointing at a blinking red circle on the massive display—the exact spot where the signal had vanished.

"Captain, Nelson, this is the sector where the video call originated. The connection was too brief to pinpoint the exact address, but the radius is extremely tight. If we had just one or two more seconds, we would have nailed the specific house. Unfortunately..."
