Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1254

Nelson handed Remington a document folder. Remington gave a curt nod, taking it without asking questions, and led Lizetta out of the study.

They got into the car, and only after they pulled away from the estate did Remington open the folder to take a look.

Seeing the contents, he let out a dark, mocking laugh.

Hearing the heavy sarcasm in his voice, Lizetta, who had been resting her head on his shoulder, sat up to peer at the papers.

"What did Nelson give you?"

Remington handed her the folder. She flipped through a couple of pages, a look of sheer derision settling in her eyes.

"Do you think seeing this will make her feel even an ounce of remorse?" Lizetta asked, sliding the papers back into the envelope.

Remington gazed down at her, his lips curling into a cynical smile.

"Even if she feels a sliver of regret, it won't be enough to miraculously cure her conscience and make her hand our son over unconditionally."

Lizetta pressed her lips into a tight line. "You're right, she won't. We shouldn't expect humanity from a monster."

But the thought of Joy brought fresh moisture to her eyes.

"Remington, are we really going to get him back safely this time?"

Sensing her deep-seated anxiety, he reached out and took both of her hands.

They were freezing, feeling like two blocks of smooth, cold marble against his skin.

"Of course we are! Trust me."

He enveloped her hands entirely within his large, warm palms, gently massaging the chill away. He leaned in, pressing his forehead against hers, a reassuring smile blooming on his lips as he spoke with unwavering certainty.

His absolute confidence proved infectious. Lizetta's eyelashes fluttered, and the prospect of bringing Joy home finally began to feel like a tangible reality.

"Should we start redesigning his nursery at Oakridge Heights? Do you have any ideas in mind?"

Lizetta genuinely perked up at the topic.

Her mind instinctively went to the nursery Remington had prepared for Joy back at the estate.

It was located directly across from the master bedroom, completely designed by Remington himself.

He had even locked Stella in there for a night, scaring her out of her wits.

The mere thought of Stella spending time in that room made Lizetta's stomach churn with disgust.

She frowned slightly. Sensing exactly what was bothering her, Remington spoke up smoothly.

"Why don't we convert the guest room next to the master bedroom into the new nursery? We can knock down the adjoining wall so we can keep an eye on him at all times. This time, you can design the entire space yourself. Deal?"
