Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1250

“Liz, I know.”

Remington interrupted her gently. His voice was calm, but heavily laced with a strained hoarseness.

Lizetta was taken aback by his response. She paused, stunned.

“You... you know? How could you...”

Judging by his tone, he had already pieced the puzzle together.

Did that mean Ron truly was Joy?

Her heart pounded violently against her ribs, tears instantly flooding her eyes.

A dreadful premonition gripped her.

Something must have happened to Ron, otherwise Remington wouldn't sound so incredibly grim.

“I began suspecting it when I left the precinct this morning. I called Winnie, and she told me she had taken Ron back to the West mansion. Everything seemed perfectly normal, so I dismissed the theory. Still, I ordered Ray back to Zion City to grab the boy for a paternity test just in case.”

Remington briefly explained the situation, his voice a low hum.

Lizetta's breath caught in her throat. “And then?”

Her throat was bone-dry, sheer panic consuming her.

“But I can't reach Winnie anymore! Did something happen to him?”

“Yes. Ray just called in. Both Ron and Winnie have vanished. It's highly probable that they were snatched the moment Eartha was arrested.”

Lizetta had put him on speakerphone the moment the call connected.

Hearing this, she and Nelson exchanged a devastating look, reading the exact same horrific realization in each other's eyes.

Ron had to be Joy!

There was no other explanation for such a damning coincidence.

“Ray is handling the lockdown in Zion City. I'm proceeding to Fairview. I need to confirm if Sylvia's family is responsible for snatching him.”

If Sylvia's family was indeed corrupted, they were the prime suspects for the kidnapping.

Once he unmasked the kidnappers, he could hunt them down methodically.

“Okay. I'll wait for your news,” Lizetta said, pausing slightly before her voice cleared.

“Be careful out there. Stay safe.”

Hearing the unmistakable concern in her trembling voice, a gentle ripple of warmth soothed his fractured heart.

His tone softened significantly. “I will. Wait for me.”

Hanging up, Lizetta clutched her phone and stared down at the gallery.

She scrolled through the pictures of little Ron, her vision slowly blurring with tears.
