“What is it?”
“You need to keep a close eye on Eartha. Her body is rapidly failing, and she's incredibly desperate for a kidney transplant. I guarantee she'll make a move soon.”
Remington had already intercepted and cut off the kidney donor Eartha had originally secured.
Given her deteriorating health, she urgently needed a new donor.
Now that she was locked up in the precinct, she was out of time and growing desperate.
Lizetta glanced at Jerome and Nelson. Jerome had to coordinate the search grid across Tranquil Meadows, so taking on the responsibility of monitoring Eartha made perfect sense.
She nodded. “Okay, we'll stay in constant contact.”
Remington brushed his hand through her hair. “Don't worry. If Joy really is in Fairview, I promise I'll bring him home safely.”
With that, Remington turned and strode out the door.
As soon as he left, Jerome spoke up.
“I'll start leveraging our network to sweep the entirety of Tranquil Meadows immediately. We'll also do a hard tear-down of the Porter family's assets.”
Nelson waved him off, and Lizetta stood up.
“Jerome, thank you for taking this on.”
The hardest part was that they didn't even know what Joy looked like. Finding him was going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.
The lack of visual identification amplified the difficulty immensely.
Jerome patted Lizetta's shoulder. “We're family, there's no need for thanks. When my nephew comes home, my first order of business is teaching him to call me Uncle.”
Lizetta's eyes teared up, her heart aching as she envisioned the beautiful scene Jerome painted.
“He needs to call for his great-grandfather first!”
Nelson chimed in, intentionally trying to lift the heavy atmosphere.
Lizetta nodded warmly. “Grandpa, Jerome, you're both dreaming. Joy will definitely call for his mom first. Even when he was in my tummy, he used to kick with excitement just hearing my voice.”
Jerome chuckled and turned to leave. Just as he reached the door, Lizetta suddenly remembered something.
Jerome studied the photo carefully. “Got it. I'll distribute this as a visual reference. Try not to worry.”
As Jerome walked out, Nelson extended a hand.
“Liz, let me see too.”
Realizing the photo was a crucial asset for the search, Lizetta finally moved it out of her encrypted folder permanently.
She sat back down beside Nelson and handed him the phone.
Nelson pulled his reading glasses from his pocket, put them on, and scrutinized the image with intense focus.
Looking at the beautiful, soft features of the child on the screen, Nelson's fingers trembled slightly as he traced the digital cheek.
“This boy definitely takes after the Madden family. Look at these big, bright eyes and those plump little lips. He doesn't look like Remington at all.”
Lizetta leaned in to look, and Nelson continued.
“A child as handsome as our Joy is rare. He shouldn't be hard to spot. Babies change every single day, but since this was generated from his bone structure in the ultrasound, the foundation won't change. This has to be what our Joy looks like...”

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
