Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: You reap what you sow, there’s no way out

"He’s my son-in-law," Qin Zhengyang said with a serious expression.

"That’s right, it’s Daddy," Gugu added in her small, childlike voice.

"This..." Seeing his good friend Qin Zhengyang, Lin Zhan was at a loss for words.

But Zhang Fengtian didn’t care about Qin Zhengyang’s attitude. He was a Divine Doctor, and no matter how formidable Qin Zhengyang was, a day would come when he would need his help.

Zhang Fengtian’s face was stern. "Which medical college did your son-in-law graduate from? Who was his teacher?"

"I don’t know," Qin Zhengyang said, shaking his head.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Fengtian immediately snapped, "It seems he has no real skills then. What gives him the right to treat patients? His meddling will only complicate my treatment further. He’s just making trouble for me."

At Zhang Fengtian’s words, the expressions on everyone’s faces changed.

Lin Zhan looked anxiously at Zhang Fengtian and said, "Master, no matter how severe her condition is, I beg you to help. She’s my only daughter."

Lin Zhan had also risen through the military ranks and was an old comrade-in-arms of Qin Zhengyang; getting angry at his friend was something he couldn’t bring himself to do. Right now, he was simply overcome with anxiety. His wife had passed away long ago, leaving him with only a single daughter. If she were to die, how could he possibly go on living?

"If an outsider mishandles her treatment, then even I..." Zhang Fengtian trailed off.

Li Bin, seeming to understand what his teacher wanted, immediately said, "Normally, a single hospital gifted to my teacher would suffice. But given the situation, it will probably take two hospitals, won’t it?"

Lin Zhan despised Zhang Fengtian, but with his daughter’s life on the line, he dared not object.

Qin Zhengyang grunted, "The other hospital will be on me, as long as you, Master Zhang, can cure my niece."

Li Bin added, "Is my teacher a greedy man? What would he do with hospitals? It’s simply to save people the trouble of traveling far for medical care. With one more hospital, who knows how many more lives can be saved?"

Qin Zhengyang and Lin Zhan remained silent, cursing inwardly. The hospitals under Zhang Fengtian’s name were notoriously expensive—a simple fever treatment with an IV drip cost three hundred, and a prescription for cold medicine was at least five hundred and fifty. How was that for the sake of the patients? But under the circumstances, neither of them dared to say more.

Finally, Zhang Fengtian asked, "What about the test results?"

Li Bin hurriedly passed them over. As Zhang Fengtian looked through the dozen or so reports, all of which indicated Lin Mo had no issues apart from anemia, his expression soured.

Could the Lin Family’s young lady be faking her illness?

Zhang Fengtian looked at Li Bin, who immediately stepped closer and whispered a few words, confirming that Lin Mo was not faking it—she was genuinely pale, as if her life was about to fade away.

Zhang Fengtian’s brows furrowed deeply. What in the world is wrong with the Lin Family’s young lady?

"Master, how is it?" Lin Zhan asked eagerly.

Zhang Fengtian hesitated. In Yang City, he stood alone at the top, revered as a deity by the wealthy elite and hailed by all as a Divine Doctor. The four simple words, "I can’t treat her," were impossible for him to say.

What am I going to do?

Wu Tian nodded. He knew Lin Mo would be fine, so he carried Gugu out of the hospital to wait for Qin Zhengyang in the car. He disliked letting the little one linger in a place with such heavy negative energy.

Qin Zhengyang watched his son-in-law leave, a slight frown on his face. Is Xiaotian just being reckless, or is he truly capable? Without dwelling on it, he also entered the hospital room.

Inside, Li Bin’s jaw dropped as he stared at Lin Mo, who now had a rosy complexion and whose eyes were beginning to flutter open. Zhang Fengtian was equally astonished. He couldn’t help but walk over to check Lin Mo’s pulse. How is this a patient? There’s nothing wrong with her at all! In fact, she’s brimming with vitality!

"How is my daughter?" Lin Zhan was still anxious.

Zhang Fengtian said, "It seems the hospital’s diagnostic equipment malfunctioned. Your daughter only had a minor ailment. I’ll prescribe some medicine for her to take home, and she’ll be fine."

Lin Zhan finally breathed a sigh of relief. Then, he noticed the silver needle still in his daughter’s neck and couldn’t help but ask, "Why is that needle stuck in that spot?"

"I find its placement awkward as well," Zhang Fengtian said. "Let’s just pull it out."

Qiu Yulan, who was standing nearby, immediately protested when she heard them. "You can’t! The Divine Doctor just said it can only be removed at dusk!"

"Divine Doctor?" The title seemed to trigger Zhang Fengtian, who snorted angrily. "What kind of Divine Doctor is he? I am the real one! If I say it comes out, it comes out."

"That’s right," Li Bin chimed in with a grin. "If my teacher says to pull it out, then it must be the correct thing to do." His face beamed as he walked over to pull out the silver needle. He was secretly ecstatic. Did that kid really manage to cure Lin Mo by sheer luck? I’ve loathed the sight of him for a long time.

But before Li Bin could dwell on it, he saw Lin Mo’s face turn deathly pale with lightning speed.
