Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

Raven POV

It takes hours. Hours that were well spent, MaryAnne Sinclair continuing to lie there unconscious through all of it. I sit in a chair, watching her, waiting. She’s tied to a table with silver chains and restraints, her legs and arms pulled out from her body. She’s naked, her clothes thrown away carelessly on the ground. My father and Damien sit in the shadows, observing, out of sight. I hold a knife in my hand, twirling it and touching the point over and over again, a crooked grin on my face. It’s almost time for the whole spectacle to begin. When she finally realized the depth of my hatred for her and saw me in a new light.

Her eyes begin to flutter open. There’s a look of bewilderment on her face followed by terror as she tries to move, only to realize she can’t. She tugs uselessly at the cuffs and chains. I stand up and deliberately move closer, giving her a pleasant smile. I tilt my head, my eyes narrowing as I look at her defiantly in the eyes.

“You,” she shouted, “what do you think you are doing? Have you gone insane? I’m a Luna for heaven’s sake.”

She shouts the word, the magic word meant to bring me pain and cause me to double over. Nothing happens. I remain upright, staring at her. She does it again and again, her eyes widening as she realizes it no longer affects me. I will never experience that excruciating pain again. Not in this lifetime. I have the moon goddess to thank for that. Her body begins to shake, her lower lip quivering.

“No,” she breathes, “it’s impossible. The spell….”

She can’t believe her eyes. The spell had been a way to control me, to make me submit, and now that was gone. She had lost her means to make me her puppet, her slave.

“Is broken,” I said casually, “and has been for a while.”

“You still think you’re in a position to make demands?” My voice is icy.

I step closer to her, eyeing her with malicious intent. For so long I’ve dreamed of this moment, and now it’s made possible because of Damien and my father. I finally have the advantage over MaryAnne Sinclair and she’s the one who’s in danger, not me.

I put the knife down, and she exhales in relief, thinking I’m going to free her. Instead, I slowly pick up the whip that’s sitting on the trolley next to me, letting the strands slip through my fingers. I turn and then hit her hard on her thigh, the whip making a cracking sound as she jolts and howls.

“It hurts right?” I whisper chillingly, “It stings. How many times have you whipped me mother?” I asked demandingly, mocking her as she glared at me.

Too many times to count. I remembered every single time she whipped me, vividly, all of those instances locked inside memories that hurt whenever they came to the surface and overwhelmed me.
