It instantly lightened the mood, and both of us girls laughed out loud. Aeress giggled and nodded, her eyes dancing. “Actually, I do have an ulterior motive,” she said as Alpha Daxton chuckled and Damien shook his head good-naturedly, “I wanted to specifically introduce you to Raven. I um,” she coughed as I blushed, “I thought that you guys might make a good match. She’s kind, sweet, smart…” she motioned with her hands, passionately extolling all my virtues as I shyly glanced away.

“Oh,” Aeress said as though remembering, “according to Jackson, she has great fucking fighting skills.

She seemed determined to make Damien like me. It was embarrassing. My cheeks went even redder. Aeress really was shameless. I should never have let her talk me into this.

“You don’t have to twist my arm,” Damien laughed, “but don’t you feel bad for Raven? She’s blushing so red right now, I feel sorry for her. She’s clearly not used to you yet.”

Hades clenched his jaw but said nothing. He couldn’t protest without drawing attention to himself. I rose gracefully to my feet, taking hold of Damien’s hand, which was outstretched and surprisingly quite smooth and gentle. He leads me out of the room and through some large double doors which lead outside. I inhale the fresh air, feeling myself relax. Damien lets go of my hand and begins to walk slowly, allowing me to take in the beautiful roses that adorn the garden beds all around the pack house. Their sweet perfume is intoxicating. I absently wonder if Luna Grace was the one to arrange all this. Somehow, I could envision her taking the time to pick out all the flowers and even water them all, although that was due to my vivid imagination and nothing to do with knowing her properly.

“So how long have you and Hades been seeing each other?” Damien asked drily, causing my mouth to fall open and my body to go deadly still, my face paling.

How the hell did he know? Had something given us away?
