Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156

Raven POV

Two weeks later: I looked at myself in the mirror, twisting every which way, unable to hold back my happiness as I looked at the beautiful black wedding dress that clung tightly to my bodice and then flowed down to my ankles, corset-style ribbons criss-crossed on the back of it. I was a princess, a dark force to be reckoned with/The dress was exactly as I’d wanted it, fitting like a glove, and my face glowed with excitement as I twirled around, the dress billowing around me.

Today was going to be perfect. Like a fairytale. Happiness consumed me. By the end of the evening, I would offically become Hades’ wife and the recognized Luna of this pack. My father and brother had worked hard to make this day come true, and I knew without a doubt that they would make this day memorable. A memory to

cherish forever.

“Soon,” I murmured, wringing my hands together, nervous as the auspicious time drew nearer.

It felt strange, being at my father’s pack, but also right in a sense. I was here, in my mother’s resting place, surrounded by her memory. I could almost feel her spirit watching over me, and maybe that was wishful thinking, but for today, it comforted me in ways I could never imagine. Tonight I will visit her grave and tell her all about the wedding and the reception, including her in my special day. I knew my father would appreciate it. He often did the same, telling his beloved everything, speaking as though she was still right there beside him. I doubted my father would ever find somebody else that he loved more than my mother; his commitment to her was so strong that it was reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet.

An omega came in, bearing two glasses of champagne. I accepted one from her, my stomach twisting in knots as my nervousness grew stronger. This was a welcome reprieve and way to calm my nerves before they became too overwhelming.

“Congratulations, Luna Raven. I hope the day goes smoothly for you,” The omega smiled warmly at me.

“Thank you,” I breathed and laughed, holding up the glass, “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this right now. You’re a lifesaver,” I joked, making her laugh.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” she said quickly, “I thought you might need something to calm your nerves.”

“Aeress, are you alright?” I knocked on the door and waited, frowning when there was no answer, no sounds of her moving around the room in preparation.

It was quiet. Deadly quiet. My nerves grew taut.

I felt a stirring of unease inside my gut. Something was wrong. Very wrong. For a moment, I couldn’t see Aeress anywhere, and then I saw her, my eyes widening in shock. Aeress lay on the floor, a bedside table knocked over, her body not moving. She looked almost dead, her chest barely raising up and down as she breathed.

I moved carefully, avoiding the glass on the floor, my eyes refusing to move away. It never occurred to me to scream out for help, my own body feeling slightly strange to me, as though it was becoming heavy.

I bent over her. Her eyes opened, and she weakly tried to take my hand, her lips parting as she tried to tell me something.
