Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 144

Chapter 144

Hades POV

“Fuck,” I roared, slamming my hand down on the dining table and causing a large crack to appear down the middle.

I’d made a mess of things as usual. Aeress was unsympathetic. “You botched that up. How could you treat Raven like this? That girl loves you, and you just broke her heart! Do you have any idea just how much you’ve hurt her?” she demanded icily, looking as though she wanted to tear me from limb to limb.

I was tempted to let her. That’s how guilty I was feeling. I had botched everything up, from the marriage proposal to now this. I had no idea what I had been thinking of to broach either subject like this. I was an idiot. A moron. bastard. I’d let my fears come over me and spoken without consideration for what Raven wanted.

“I wasn’t…that is…” I trailed off and slumped down into a chair, “I didn’t mean to,” I muttered.

Except I had. But how was I going to explain that to Aeress, who looked like she was on the verge of murdering me?

“Really?” Aeress snarled, “Because you just blindsided her. This should have been a conversation before you fucked one another, not afterwards. Since when are you opposed to having a child Hades? You were certainly okay with having that bitch have your baby?” she said heatedly, “you didn’t mind so much then, but now you’ve just changed your mind, just like that? I’m not buying it Hades. Something is going on with you, and I want to know what the fuck it is.”

She glared at me and I wavered. Then again, if anybody understood my fears right now, Aeress would be one of

them.

“I can’t be a father, Aeress,” I looked at her, my voice thick with emotion, “I just can’t.”

“What if, what if,” Aeress said scornfully, “I had the same thoughts about being a mother, Hades and Raven talked me through it. You’re not him Hades. You would never raise a hand against Raven, let alone your own child.

You’re letting your fears get the better of you,” she said admonishing me. “Do you think Raven is the type to stand by and let you harm her or her baby? Do you think Raven would just let things get that far?”

“No,” I said quietly, beginning to feel even more ashamed of myself, “she isn’t the type.”

In fact, Raven would probably kick my ass for daring to even lay a hand on our child. It should have comforted me, but it didn’t.

“Then stop being afraid! You finally found somebody who loves you for you, Hades, and you’re fucking it all up. · You said you loved her,” Aeress reminded me, “which means you’re in it for better or worse. Raver would make an excellent mother one day. She’s loving, kind, sweet and then there’s the other side of her, fierce, protective, possessive. She’s everything I want to be, and any child of hers is going to be the same way, I guarantee it.”
