Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 138

Chapter 138

Third Person POV

She tore through the trees, leaping gracefully to avoid broken twigs, paws thudding loudly on the ground, her entire focus on the boundary line. Never before had Marissa been so grateful to be a white wolf. Her speed and agility were certainly coming in handy. She felt a flash of fury at the image of Raven’s wolf in her mind. What right did that bitch have to be granted a wolf and a white wolf at that? Hers was bigger than Marissa’s and stronger. It made her feel so enraged that she could feel her heart beating furiously in her chest. God, how she hated that bitch. She’d stolen Marissa’s fiancée, the man she loved. The man she thought she would have children with. Sure, Marissa had wanted wealth and power in the beginning but now she wanted Hades for herself as well. He was so handsome, so strong, so…everything she’d ever wanted. She had envisioned a future with him, no matter how cold he had been to her, and now it was going to amount to nothing and it was all because of Raven!

She could sense the other wolves behind her, searching. She’d been lucky, gotten enough of a head start that there was a fair distance between them all. She knew that Hades would catch up to her, and if he did, there would be no mercy. She’d killed one of his men, endangered the life of his so-called beloved Raven, and vowed revenge. Anybody in his shoes would kill her instantly. She wasn’t so naïve to think differently. He was a threat to her. If he caught up to her… he wouldn’t hesitate to make her pay, maybe even give her a painful death instead of a quick one. She shivered, only becoming more determined to get to safety and away from him.

The boundary line. She could see it. She leaped over it, her body landing smoothly onto a back road. She was home free. Safe. She breathed a sigh of relief, feeling relaxed for the first time. She could hear the sound of distant tires and turned expectantly, still in her wolf form. It looked as though she had perfect timing. She waited with bated breath, and a car drove from around the nearby corner, headlights flashing. It was speeding. It also wasn’t anticipating finding a wolf on the open road and the car struggled to come to a complete stop, the sound of brakes squealing as the driver stepped on them in desperation, hitting Marissa and sending her to the ground. Great. This would work in Marissa’s favour. She gave a wicked grin and then made her body sprawl out on the ground, aware that the blood covering her would make her look more injured than she was. She was an expert when it came to playing dead.
