Chapter 134

Hades POV

She’s glorious. I’ve never seen such a pure-looking white wolf before, let alone one that’s as big as an Alpha wolf. She almost towers over me. Lucifer is enamoured. Marissa is safely ensconced in the dungeon while we work out what to do with each other. Aeress is beaming widely, clapping her hands together excitedly as she turns to me.

“Finally, you’ve seen sense,” she exclaims, glancing between me and Raven, “you have good taste. I thought you were going to marry that damn harpy,” she scowled, “and live a life of misery and no doubt like a monk if Lucifer had anything to do with it. Oh,” she shrieked as I winced and Raven giggled, “I’m so happy I could cry.”

She was being melodramatic as usual. But that was Aeress. She’d always been a bit overexuberant.

“Enough Aeress,” I rubbed my chin, “okay, you were right. I was wrong, is that what you wanted to hear?” I said a little snarly.

I hated to admit she was right. It stung. My pride was broken, but it didn’t matter to me. Only Raven did.

“Oh yes,” she was shameless, “along with you’ve always been right. You’re so clever, Aeress. You’re so smart. I don’t know why I didn’t listen to you.”

“You’re pushing it,” I growled as she giggled and Raven just shook her head, looking amused, while Jackson just sighed, used to his mate’s antics.

The man was a saint when it came to Aeress. I resolved to be a bit kinder to him. He had his hands full with my sister that was for sure.

There was no sympathy in Aeress’s voice whatsoever. She truly despised Marissa. I should have paid more attention to my sister. She was an excellent judge of character, and I was a poor one, apparently.

“But to kill her,” Raven said uncertainly, “I mean I’ve already made her lose everything. She’s lost the only home she’s ever known, she’s lost her mother, and she’s lost Hades now too. I took all she had. Maybe that’s enough revenge?” she mused. “I mean, I’ve achieved my goal,” she glanced guiltily at me, and I waved a dismissive hand at her.

I mean, no man wants to think he’s just a tool for revenge but this had all worked out in the end. I’m sure Raven didn’t anticipate falling for me, but it was crazy how fate worked. I had my mate, and nothing else mattered. Our lives were intertwined now, and nothing on this earth was going to make me give her up.

“You could force her to become a rogue,” Aeress suggested as I nodded in agreement, finding Raven’s compassionate nature another thing to love about her, “without a pack, if you banish her, then she becomes one. It would still give her a chance to survive, but what if she comes back for revenge? You need to consider that Raven. She’s already threatened to kill you several times,” she warned.

“Aeress is right, Raven,” I spoke quietly, looking at her apologetically, “she blames you for all of it. If you let her live, you’re only going to give her a chance to get payback. You don’t want to be looking over your shoulder the rest of your life, do you?” I pressed.
