Melody’s kiss possessed a confident assertiveness, her touch lingering from her lips to the man’s jaw, then descending slowly to his Adam’s apple.

In the next instant, she found herself pushed away once more.

Dazed, she gazed up at Edward’s intricate eyes, only to witness him hastily covering his nose, a drop of blood falling into the medicinal bath, splashing onto it like crimson lotus petals.

He grabbed a towel to staunch the blood, his veins still throbbing on his forehead. He glared at Melody, then surprised her by pulling her close. “You sure know how to sweet–talk someone into torture,” he muttered darkly.
