“I had fun, just that I got a bit tanned,” Aurelia responded with a radiant smile. 

When she was in Kenfort, she didn’t notice anything amiss. However, she only realized she had gotten a tan after the plane landed and went to the airport restroom. She didn’t apply any 

sunscreen. 

“It’s not that bad, Auri. You’ve always been fair, so you still look fairer than most, even when tanned.” Mabel always found comfort in observing Aurelia. 

I visited a long–time friend’s house the past few days and saw several of their daughters–in–law. I realize none of them could compare to Auri. Just by looks alone, Auri wins by a long run. 

“Matthew, what do you think?” Mabel asked, turning to Matthew who had been silent for quite a while. 

This grandson of mine has many good qualities, but his temperament isn’t particularly endearing. Just look at him brooding like that. I won’t let him off the hook if he scares Auri off. 

Matthew’s dark eyes swept over Aurelia, taking in her fair and delicate skin. He agreed with his grandmother’s statement, saying, “Grandma’s right.” 

Aurelia wasn’t particularly bothered about how tan she got. After all, having sun–kissed skin after a trip to the coastal city was proof that she enjoyed herself.

Is there anything Grandma doesn’t have? She’s probably tired of eating all the local specialties and doesn’t like the specialties from abroad. 

His penetrating gaze swept over Aurelia once again. She had taught him a valuable lesson–often, the material things themselves weren’t important, but the sentiment behind them. 

After having dinner with Mabel, Matthew and Aurelia went straight to bed.

Aurelia chuckled and said, “I purposely brought a large suitcase. Also, I traveled around by car, so once I reached the airport, all I had to do was check in the luggage. It wasn’t heavy at all, Mom.” 

That day, Herbert was still in class and staying at the school dorm. 

Xavier had been swamped with work recently and hadn’t returned home for the past few days. 

Charlie had taken on several roles, each with an increasing amount of screen time. He practically lived on the filming set, so no one got to see him. 

Phyllis was the only one at home. “Mom, I’ll be moving into my new place in three months. Once it’s all set up and furnished, we can cancel the lease on this place.” 

Phyllis chuckled and nodded. “All right, we’ll do as you 

say.” 

“By the way, Mom, there’s something I’ve been wanting to discuss with you. I’m planning to set up a shop selling antiques and antique paintings. I’ll be dealing with the live streaming, so will you help me to watch the shop? I can go to work with peace of mind with you there.” Aurelia had been thinking about it for quite some time. 

She knew that Phyllis was meticulous and determined. On the surface, she appeared gentle. Had it not been for her family background and encounter with Aurelia’s adoptive father, she certainly would’ve had a different and potentially brighter future.

The mother and daughter had a long discussion. After lunch, Phyllis remembered something. “I heard about what happened to the Leedon family. Luna had a car accident and is still in the hospital. They want you to take care of her. What do you think?”

“By the way, Xavier mentioned that he and his girlfriend will have some free time at the start of next month and plan to visit then. You should also make it a point to return and get to know his girlfriend,” Phyllis suggested. 

Aurelia shook her head. “It’s his girlfriend’s first visit to our home, so I probably shouldn’t be there. It might make her feel uncomfortable. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future. I’ll just wait for Xavier to give me a picture of her. I’m curious to see what kind of beauty she is to capture his heart!”
