Chapter 170 Matthew Getting Jealous

Xavier had just clocked in for work and before he could even sit down, a haggard–looking Aaron approached him. 

Aaron was simply not a likable person. 

“Do you need something?” Xavier asked, looking up at Aaron. 

Aaron’s eyes were rimmed with red, probably due to a rough night he had the day before. 

“I’ve already taken leave from the company,” Aaron said. “Starting from today, I’ll be coming to the office every other day.” 

Xavier was running low on patience. “There’s no need to share your matters with me.” 

“Of course it’s necessary. Do you know why I took leave? It’s because my mother was in a car accident and had to have an amputation. From now on, she’ll be bedridden and dependent on others for care. But Aurelia only visited the hospital on the day of the surgery and then disappeared these past two days. I can’t get in touch with her at all,” Aaron said, his tone somewhat frantic..

When Aurelia woke up the next day, it was already past ten, and Matthew was nowhere to be found. 

She climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom for a shower. 

After changing into fresh clothes, she searched the bed for her phone and realized it had fallen to the ground. 

There was a message left for her by Matthew. 

He had left at seven in the morning, instructing her to call the hotel concierge upon waking, so they could deliver breakfast. For the day, he had arranged for Gordon to accompany her for sightseeing. 

Matthew even stressed that it was unsafe for a girl to travel alone. 

Aurelia felt somewhat helpless. Fine, if he says it’s unsafe, then it’s unsafe. 

After she had her breakfast, Gordon came knocking at the door, holding a printed document in his hand. “Ms. Shaw, I prepared this guide this morning. It contains detailed descriptions. Take a look and see which itinerary you prefer.” 

Looking at the document before her, Aurelia sincerely praised, “How professional!” 

“Indeed. I have this knack. I’m good at whatever I do.” Gordon was somewhat flattered by the compliment. 

Since it was Matthew who had given the order for him to accompany Aurelia on a day out, Gordon was determined to ensure that she had a great time.

The look in Matthew’s eyes turned utterly cold. 

When Gordon felt a chill creeping up his back and was contemplating asking the shop owner to adjust the air conditioner’s direction, he saw Matthew. Was it the Boss who was staring at me and making me feel chills down my spine? 

Gordon quickly addressed, “Mr. Quigley…” I didn’t do anything wrong, did I? Ms. Shaw has had a wonderful time today. 

Upon hearing the greeting, Aurelia immediately looked up, only to find Matthew, his face stern and radiating a certain degree of icy aura. 

However, Aurelia didn’t find anything unusual about Matthew’s demeanor. 

She reckoned Matthew wasn’t used to the cramped, packed, and noisy atmosphere within the 

restaurant. 

“Have you 

had dinner?” Aurelia asked. 

Matthew came over and sat down next to Aurelia. Then, with a hint of stiffness in his voice, he said, “No.” 

“Um… I just remembered that I have some pending work at the office that I haven’t responded to I’ll have to skip dinner. Mr. Quigley, I need to rush back to the hotel to work,” Gordon hastily

Aurelia acknowledged with a hum and continued eating. Why does Matthew seem a bit odd today? 

She glanced at the dishes on the table. They looked rather ordinary, but they tasted surprisingly good. Though not something she’d want to eat every day, they made for a nice occasional treat. 

While Aurelia was eating heartily, Matthew picked up the camera that Gordon had left behind. He turned it on and began to look through the photos. 

Upon seeing the photo of Aurelia, who looked as beautiful as a fairy and had an incredibly radiant smile, he lowered his gaze, his tongue lightly touching his upper teeth.
