Alan nodded. “The God Eaters never stopped slipping people into Draconia. They try every method imaginable. Nearly every city contains spies. Every faction is trying to root them out, but it isn’t easy.

“Now that you’re here, I’m hoping we can carry out a complete purge.”

Steven felt another jolt in his chest. “What do you need me to do?”

Alan explained, “We’ll monitor that man’s movements closely. The moment he leaves and meets someone, we’ll know. Then I’ll need you to identify which people are infiltrators.”

Steven nodded. “Understood. I’ll be ready whenever you need me.”

Alan nodded.

Steven added, “There’s another person who could be a problem.”

“Who?”

Steven answered firmly, “Beckett.”

Alan looked at him. “You’re certain?”

Steven said, “80 to 90 percent. When those people were under mental control, he reacted differently. It didn’t seem like he was controlled at all. What he did was probably his own decision.

“And during the trial, his reaction wasn’t the same as everyone else’s. I think he may be another planted infiltrator.”

Alan nodded.

“If I’d met you sooner, maybe all of this would have been far easier.”

Steven gave a helpless smile. “I don’t have Divine Awakening. I don’t actually possess an ability like that.”

Alan suddenly smiled and nodded. “You’re right. Fair enough.”

“Oh please. You think you’re better-looking than me?”

Steven rolled his eyes. “Give me a break. Right now you’re just some middle-aged guy. If Darlene wasn’t around, I doubt anyone would glance at you.”

“You little brat! I’m not handsome?”

“Not even close.”

“You brat, I challenge you to a duel!”

Steven smirked. “At this point, I could beat a hundred old-man versions of you with one hand.”
