Chapter 467 The Deal
Ernie walked into Hudson’s office.
“How are you planning to deal with this?” Ernie asked directly.
Hudson looked at him and sighed. “Don’t do anything foolisht. There is no way to reverse this.”
“It has to be reported and put on trial!”
Ernie’s breathing grew heavier.
“If that happens, he won’t have any way out!
“He’s the only son I have left!”
Hudson frowned. “Do you think I don’t understand that?
“But this matter has already become public, and countless people witnessed it themselves. You know Draconia’s laws better than anyone!
“It’s not only because people witnessed it. The Kingstons are pressuring me as well!
“Public opinion is exploding.
“Do you really think I want this outcome?”
Ernie’s eyes were bloodshot.
“This was nothing more than a personal conflict between brothers. By that point, the beast tide had already withdrawn, so the mission should have been considered finished!”
Hudson shook his head. “If I accept that argument, then I’m openly trampling Draconia’s laws. Once that precedent is set, everyone will think they can act however they want.
“How are we supposed to govern a city of this size after that?
“Do you think running the Inspectorate is easy? Want to switch positions with me?
“When the higher authorities come asking questions, who is going to shoulder the responsibility? Me.”
Ernie’s eyes burned red with anger.
“So you’re just going to stand by and watch my family line end?”
“Ernie!” Hudson barked.
“Watch what you’re saying. You’re the Level Three Director of Orroux’s Chamber of Monitors. You’re accountable for every word that leaves your mouth.
“The greater the authority, the more we have to lead by example!”

Ermes eyes remained red, but he no longer knew what the to say..
Then Hudson spoke carnestly, “You need to understand that the biggest issue is that too many people know about this. It can’t be covered up anyinore.”
Ernie said. “There’s something wrong with this entire situation.”
Hudson shook his head. “He killed someone.”
“I understand your grief. But this is my responsibility.”
Ernie suddenly looked at him.
“What exactly would it take for you to help me bury this matter?”
Hudson shook his head. “It doesn’t take anything. And it’s not a decision I can make on my own.
“Even if he’s convicted, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll die…”
Ernie didn’t say another word. He turned and left the office.
Hudson watched him leave and smiled.
But before long, Ernie returned.
Hudson froze.
Ernie suddenly said, “Suppress this case. Afterward, I’ll resign and take the blame. The Director’s seat in the Chamber of Monitors can be yours.”
Hudson’s heart jumped.
He frowned. “What are you talking about?”
Ernie said, “Wasn’t I clear? I’m exchanging that position for his life!”
Hudson’s heart skipped a beat. Why is he suddenly being so straightforward?
The trial was semi-public, open only to Military Command personnel, and would not be livestreamed.
Steven and the others from Team Ashen stood on the right below. Soulreaver stood on the left.
Witnesses, clerks, and enforcement officers surrounded the area.
Hudson sat high above in the central seat.
“Today, we will hear the case involving the battle at the mineral vein concerning Soulreaver Team and Team Ashen.”
Soon, an Inspectorate officer stepped forward and began presenting the complete timeline of events along with testimony from both sides.
By the time he finished, more than ten minutes had passed.
Steven swept his eyes across the room. It was his first time attending a place like this.
He looked toward Soulreaver’s side and saw all nine members present.
Beckett hadn’t died after all.

His complexion was pale, but it was obvious he was no longer in critical condition.
Finished.
Steven cursed inwardly that punch had shattered his heart completely, he would have been finished.
Even Steven hadn’t realized how terrifying that strike would be.
Just like the captain had done to Alexiad gone straight for the heart.
Once the heart was destroyed, there was no saving a person.
