He pushed Eye of Insight to maximum range, searching for anyone hiding in the shadows.

Beasts that rushed him were destroyed with a punch or a thrust of the God–Slaying Spear.

Instant kills.

In barely 20 minutes, he’d butchered over 30 level 4 beasts, plus scores of level 3s and 2s.

He was a walking god of death.

Military Command took notice.

Murmurs spread through the ranks.

“Ashen’s got a new freak. Reminds me of a young Alan Greenwood.”

“Incredible.”

At the same time, the God Eaters lurking in the shadows had also noticed Steven.

Bloodfiend stared at the surveillance feed, his expression dark, watching Steven tear through the swarm.

His gaze was locked on Team Ashen.

Last time, he’d gone in with a full team. He was the sole survivor.

Damn them.

Behind him stood God Eater reinforcements, called in specifically for this.

And beside Bloodfiend stood a man with his hands clasped behind his back, middle–aged, maybe 40 or 50.

Bloodfiend asked, “Lord Thousand Shadows, we’re eliminating the entire Ashen squad, correct?”

“The Grade–A, Tier–1 target and this new kid are both serious threats. Working together, they can already take down Divine Generals.”

The Thousand Shadows nodded. “Everyone dies tonight. Don’t worry about it.”

Bloodfiend smiled viciously. “Then please, my lord. Do the honors.”

The Thousand Shadows nodded. “Patience. Let them tire themselves out first.”

He reached down and stroked the Moon Sky Fox crouching beside him, its forehead crystal gleaming.

So much had been invested to/gain control of Orroux. He hoped nothing would go wrong.

Time ticked by.

Bloodfiend and the others kept their eyes glued to the feeds.

“My lord, this kid is bizarre. No level 4 beast can survive a single exchange with him. And every time one gets close, it just… freezes. Like it’s too afraid to fight.

“Some of them even lose all will to resist. They just stand there and let him kill thein.”

The Thousand Shadows was frowning at the screen too. He’d noticed it a while ago.

It was deeply unsettling.

It almost looked like the kid could suppress beasts.

That was unprecedented.

He was tempted to go take a closer look–but decided against it.

The less he exposed himself, the better.

“Time’s up. Send the level 5s to swarm their position. I’ll take the Moon Sky Fox and finish this.”

A savage grin split Bloodfiend’s face. “Copy that.”

In a blink, the Thousand Shadows emerged from the underground with the Sky Fox.

The instant he stepped into the open, coarse fur erupted across his body, transforming him into something half–human, half–beast.

He mounted the Sky Fox and rode toward the battlefield.

At that same moment, on Steven’s side-

Steven’s sharp senses caught it first: over a dozen level 5 beasts were converging on their position.

At least 10 of them.

Steven’s brow furrowed. A sudden spike in level 5 beasts.

“Swarm that position!”

“Kill them!”

That was what the beasts were saying.

It’s happening.

He saw it—a figure riding a Moon Sky Fox, heading straight toward them.

A level 6 Moon Sky Fox.

Wait.

What’s riding it? Human or beast?

Six Sigils.

Six.

The creature riding the fox had six Divine Sigils. A Six–Sigil Divine King.

Steven was shaken.

A beastman?

How is that possible?

Is this a God Eater? Have the God Eaters already produced beings like this?

Up ahead, Alan was locked in combat with level 5 beasts. Alex and his Soulreaver teammates, including William, were doing the same.
