Chapter 452 The Beast Swarm

Everyone turned toward and

Alan said, “That’s roughly peak Divine King speed.”

There was another round of sharp inhales.

At that speed, couldn’t he fight a Divine General?” Olivia asked.

Steven shook his head. “There’s still a gap in raw power. I’d need two more levels.

But Alan corrected him. “Combat power was never only about raw strength. Your speed, combined with your current power, absolutely gives you a shot against a Divine Ceneral. You might even be able to kill one. It depends on how well you integrate everything.”

Steven’s expression sharpened. He nodded.

Alan said, “Enough talk. Time to move. Full speed–we need to reach the target before 1 a.m.

‘Steven, take point.”

‘Yes, sir!”

‘Yes, sir!”

They answered in unison.

They launched forward at top speed.

Over 70 miles at full sprint–it wouldn’t take long.

During the 10–day return trip, Fiona and Nicole had both used their spirit fruit to reach level 30.

All they needed now was to break through the bottleneck and advance to Four–Sigil.

Bianca was already at level 30, of course. Her power was in a class of its own.

Around 1 a.m., the stars glittered overhead.

They hadn’t reached the mineral vein yet, but they could already see the massive beast swarm—a dark, churning ocean of creatures surrounding a cluster of hills.

The air was thick with roaring and howling.

The hills marked the mineral vein’s location, shielded by a Quantum Barrier.

Even a cursory glance made everyone’s blood run cold.

There were so many beasts.

Tens of thousands.

Firsten

Level 4 beasts were everywhere, and more than a few level 5s were visible.

Steven, on the other hand, was practically vibrating with excitement. Wasn’t this exactly what he needed?

His eyes went hot.

Beast crystals. Beast crystals everywhere.

Alan’s cold voice cut through the noise. Battle formation. We’re cutting our way in.”

Yes, sir!”

Yes, sir!”

“Yes, sir!”

They shouted at the same time.

Just then, a voice rang out from behind them–bright, delighted, and utterly shameless.

“Alan Greenwood! I knew it was you!

“Back to Orrouxwanna hang out?”

The Silverion Phalanx teammates stared blankly ahead, dead inside.

At this point, she might as well give up on dignity entirely.

Team Ashen might be thinking, Our captain really does have amazing luck with women.

Alan didn’t spare Mackenzie a glance. He charged straight into the beast swarm, carving a path through flesh and bone.

His team followed at full speed.

Mackenzie sprinted after them.

“Alan, wait for me! I look great in black stockings!”

Mackenzie was beside herself with joy.

One of her teammates pleaded, “Captain Roach, please. Shut up. Or we’re all deserting.”

The Silverion Phalanx was at its wits‘ end. How had they ended up with this lovesick disaster of a captain?

Her teammates blinked.

Wait. Hold on. Something about that logic doesn’t track.

She’d probably chain herself to Alan’s bed and never leave.

Mackenzie was beside herself.

The look on her face said she wanted to throw Alan over her shoulder and haul him straight to a bedroom.

Two squads, one behind the other.

Other squads were also fighting their way toward the vein from different directions.

The large mineral vein was surrounded by Quantum Barrier stakes. Their job was to defend those stakes.

A major mineral vein contained staggering quantities of divine crystals.

Without his S–rank battle armor, he was essentially fighting naked—and it didn’t matter in the slightest.

Soon, Steven noticed something remarkable.

His body’s defensive capability had reached a terrifying level.

Level 3 beasts couldn’t even scratch him.

Their claws left nothing but faint marks on his skin.

Level 4 beasts could barely break the surface.

And when they did, a faint glow would shimmer over the wound, warm and soothing.

Finished

The cuts frealed at an almost supernatural speed.

Steven was ecstatic.

He understood now.

This is Immortal Body.

It was a passive ability.

Not something he activated–it was always on. The moment he took darnage, the talent kicked in automatically, repairing the injury.

And on top of that, his base physical defense had been massively Enhanced by Immortal Body as well.

He killed with escalating fervor, fighting alongside Alan at the vanguard.

Eventually, Steven abandoned his spear entirely.

Collecting beast crystals with a weapon was too slow.

He switched to bare fists.
