Steven let out a sigh of relief and slumped down beside Peter.

Neither of them spoke for a long time.

For the Awakened Squad, absolute trust between teammates was everything.

They could entrust their lives to the other person without hesitation.

Tears and blood streaked across Darlene’s pretty face.

With trembling fingers, she reached out and gently touched the still–warm face before her.

She wiped away her tears while continuing to pour out her power, desperately trying to save him.

“He promised me so many things he still hasn’t done yet!”

Steven struggled to his feet, his expression solemn.

Under the shocked gazes of Alan and the others, he gave Peter a salute that only the Awakened Squad would understand.

It was the highest honor among the Awakened Squad!

Everyone burst out laughing.

Darlene smacked Peter lightly.

“Urgh…” Peter groaned painfully. “Let me sleep for a bit. It hurts like hell. So tired…”

He closed his eyes again.

“Don’t sleep!” Darlene snapped.

Darlene continued channeling her healing power into him.

The other teammates also stepped forward to help.

Steven watched the scene, smiling faintly.

Good. At least his trip back here hadn’t been for nothing.

As long as Peter survived, that was enough.

At that moment, Steven felt as though a layer of guilt in his heart had finally faded away.

Alan called Steven over to the Bloodfang Rat King’s corpse.

“I’m the captain of Team Ashen. My name is Alan Greenwood.”

“He was the one who saved us. Without him, we probably would’ve died long ago.”

Alan nodded. Then he looked at the Rat King.
