Chapter 281 Massive Conspiracy
Sebastian and Cara had already returned.
But some people still didn’t know what had happened and wanted answers.
Before anyone could ask, they heard the sound of shattering glass.
The noise from Alan suddenly stopped.
Everyone’s heart skipped a beat. Worried, they rushed into the hospital room.
“Captain Greenwood!”
But Alan was gone.
They hurried to the broken window and looked outside.
Rain had just started falling.
Alan had already jumped from the building and was sprinting into the distance at full speed.
“Captain Greenwood!”
Everyone panicked.
Steven shot forward immediately.
They absolutely couldn’t let Alan lose control. They couldn’t allow him to fall into the enemy’s trap.
But Alan was too fast.
Steven couldn’t even catch up.
Douglas was most likely the mastermind behind everything. He had probably reached some kind of agreement with the God Eaters.
Alan ran through the storm like a ruthless beast with no emotions left.
Suddenly, Ernie appeared in front of him.
Alan acted as if he hadn’t even seen him and continued charging forward.
In a deep voice, Ernie said, “Calm down.”
A powerful pressure instantly descended upon Alan and forced him to stop.
Alan’s voice was frighteningly calm. “Let me go.”
By then, Steven and the others had finally caught up. They stood nearby in the pouring rain.
Olivia shouted, “Mr. Greenwood, we have to stop him! He’s going to kill Douglas!”

Ernie frowned. “Get a hold of yourself. You’re still suffering from the aftereffects of your injuries, and you want to go kill Douglas of Ravenhold?”
Steven’s eyes widened.
Ravenhold?
Ravenhold was one of the three Imperial Capitals.
Located along the eastern coast, it was the central stronghold guarded by the Supreme Dragon Divine Eternal.
So Douglas came from there…
No wonder he had spoken with such confidence.
Alan collapsed into the rain.
Deep down, he knew how difficult this would be.
Ernie walked over and asked, “What exactly happened?”
Alan stared ahead with empty eyes.
“That bastard forced Yvonne to her death! He sent people to hunt us down! He got my teammates killed! He was behind everything!”
Ernie’s expression darkened.
“You’re saying Yvonne was driven to her death by Douglas? What happened?”
Why didn’t I notice?
Why didn’t Yvonne tell us? Wouldn’t it have been better if we had faced it together?
Ernie paused. He remembered bits and pieces of Steven’s performance during the battle.
Steven was special and powerful.
In the end, he had even killed a Divine General with a single spear strike.
The Divine General had been on the verge of death, but a Divine General was still a Divine General. Such an opponent was never weak.
Yet Steven was only at the Two–Sigil level.
He sat beside Alan in the rain.
“Captain Greenwood, I know you’re hurting right now. But you have to pull yourself together. You can’t lose control. We’ll help you get revenge.”
Peter, Olivia, and the others immediately nodded.
“That’s right! We’ll help you get revenge!”
Steven continued, “The truth is pretty clear now. Douglas probably made some kind of deal with the God Eaters. Then the God Eaters took advantage of the situation and set all of this up. Their goal was to drive you insane so they could use you against Draconia. Hugo wanted to kill all of us because he was trying to provoke you. It’s obvious they wanted to turn you into a weapon. Both the God Eaters and Douglas deserve to pay for what they’ve done.”
He looked directly at Alan.
“But you have to stay calm. Not just for yourself. For all of us. And for Yvonne, who was willing to sacrifice her own life so you could live.
“Maybe her only wish was for you to keep living.
“If you throw your life away now, she’d be heartbroken.
“You can’t let her sacrifice be meaningless. So stand up, Captain Greenwood. You have to keep going.”
