Alan thought for a moment before answering. “We’ll take the mission. It’s about time we brought the two new teammates out for some real field training.”

Olivia looked surprised.

“You really aren’t worried at all? Fiona might be fine, but Steven only just finished his Divine Awakening. And Fiona’s combat instincts still aren’t great either.”

Alan shook his head.

‘Don’t worry. Those two balance each other out pretty well. Things shouldn’t get too dangerous.”

Olivia let out a quiet sigh and stopped arguing.

When she saw the empty look in Alan’s eyes, pain flashed across her face. She couldn’t help saying one more thing.

Alan paused for a second. The corner of his mouth curled into a self–mocking smile.

But he said nothing. He simply turned around and walked back into his room.

Olivia’s heart ached. He used to smile so warmly.

The huge house felt just like Alan’s heart now. Cold. Empty. Silent.

Steven held Bianca’s soft hand as they walked through the dark campus together.

Neither of them spoke.

It felt like this was the first time they had openly walked around campus while holding hands.

Steven smiled. “Yeah. Your hands are way softer now. And you’re getting prettier too. That way your mom won’t think I’m taking bad care of you.”

Bianca’s face grew even hotter.

“Jerk,” she mumbled softly.

But a second later, she quietly asked, “Do I really… look prettier now?”

“Of course,” Steven said without hesitation. “You get prettier every day. Exactly my type.”

Bianca took several deep breaths, trying hard to calm herself down

She had to hold it together. If she fainted in front of Steven, it would be far too embarrassing. Then he would have to carry her…

Bianca suddenly froze.

That’s right! Steven carrying me actually sounded nice.

Maybe fainting would not be so bad after all.

She smiled shyly to herself.

Of course, Steven had no idea how many little thoughts were running through her head.

“Tomorrow’s Friday,” he said. “After classes end, if nothing comes up, we can stay at the villa for the night. Then we’ll head back Saturday. After that, we can stay there again over the weekend. Sound good?”

Bianca froze again.

She felt like she might die from embarrassment.

Steven smiled and nodded.

“You’re way too understanding. Come here. You deserve a reward.”

Steven leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead.

Then slowly, she closed her eyes.

Steven walked all the way back to the dorm while touching his lips.

The grin on his face was impossible to hide.
