Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 144

Then again, he had been pretty great tonight. Maybe just a quick one. She did kind of want to.

She kissed his cheek, fast and light, her face burning red. She couldn’t help herself.

They walked toward the Academy together, grinning like idiots.

“Steven, is it true that all guys like girls with big chests and long legs and tiny waists and thigh–highs?”

Steven’s expression froze. Minefield detected.

“No. I only like yours.”

Bianca huffed. “Pervert.”

She said it with a smile she couldn’t hide.

“Hey, wait. Bianca, when did you get so grown–up? Where are you learning this stuff?”

She took off running before he could grab her. They chased each other all the way back, laughing and shoving.

The second they stepped through the Academy gates, Steven sensed someone tailing them. He kept his face neutral. It had been a long day, and these people just would not quit.

He didn’t let on. He walked Bianca back to her dorm first, and they said a reluctant goodbye at the door. Then he doubled back.

He could feel the person behind him waiting for an opening. Steven wandered toward a quiet stretch of campus on purpose and let the trap set itself.

His stalker was decisive. The moment the opportunity appeared, he struck. Purple light from an A–rank Divine Sigil blazed across his body, two sigil marks clearly visible!

Steven snorted. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

The attacker flinched. He’d been spotted from the start.

Steven didn’t give him time to recover. He pulled his spear from the spatial converter, its edge gleaming cold in the dark, and lashed out.

The man raised his forearm to block. Metal rang against metal, a sharp clang that echoed off the buildings. Steven understood immediately. This guy’s sigil was a metal attribute. He could convert parts of his body into metallic material in an instant. It wasn’t a rare ability.

The counterattack came fast and vicious. The man deflected the spear and closed the distance, driving a brutal punch straight at Steven’s face.

12:01 pm

This guy was noticeably stronger than the ones from earlier in the day. His raw power was on a different level. Steven estimated he was past level 12 at least, and he knew from experience that crossing the level 11 threshold meant a significant jump in capability.

Distance was the answer. As long as Dominic couldn’t close the gap, he couldn’t do anything. Steven’s agility and Eye of Insight were in a class this guy couldn’t touch. He just needed to find the weakness.

Steel rang against steel as they traded blows. Gradually, Dominic started to feel it too. He couldn’t lay a finger on him.

Every rush met empty air. Every punch whiffed. It was maddening. Steven seemed to know what was coming before it happened.

His iron fists were aching from hitting nothing but a spear shaft. The frustration was suffocating. He was an A–rank Two–Sigil Divine Envoy. Losing to a freshman was unthinkable.

Steven stayed calm, still as water, watching for the opening. It came. His eyes locked on and hardened.

Thousand Army Sweep.

The spear blurred in a vicious horizontal arc aimed at Dominic’s chest. By the time he reacted, the blade had already landed.

The impact detonated against his torso with a concussive boom.
