Chapter 139 Debts and Dinner

Steven kicked off the ground..

Carrying her, he sprinted for the exit.

He dodged beasts wherever possible along the way.

It took roughly half an hour.

The exit finally came into his view.

He breathed a sigh of relief. Close call, but no real disasters.

They were out of the hunting grounds.

“Alright, we’re clear. I’ll be a gentleman about it and drop you at the infirmary.”

Fiona cut in immediately. “No!”

“Oh, come on! No backup, no infirmary–what do you actually want?”

Fiona’s expression was ice.

“Take me to a place off–campus. I have a house nearby with a medical system.”

She struggled to pull a vehicle from her spatial converter.

“Fine, fine. You’re the boss right now.”

Steven deposited her in the passenger seat.

He floored it.

Fiona stole an involuntary glance at him.

Her emotions were a tangled mess of fury and frustration. How had I ended up with this absolute hooligan?

“What Sigil tier are you? Which Three–Sigil class? I’ve never seen you before.”

Steven’s mouth twitched.

“My business is my business. The less you know, the better.”

Play it cool. Just a little.

The truth was, Steven had just realized that once Fiona recovered and found out he was a brand–new One- Sigil student…

Would she come looking for revenge?

Steven shuddered.

Frushed

He was a firm believer in doing good deeds anonymously.

Fiona was completely, erly out of options when it came to dealing with Steven.

But she didn’t have the energy to argue anymore.

Blood was still seeping from the corner of her mouth.

Steven didn’t ask any more questions either.

Before long, they arrived at a villa on the south side of the academy grounds.

Steven carried her inside and set her down in the medical bay.

She lay on the treatment table.

The AI butler had already begun its diagnostic scan.

There were 10 rib fractures and some internal bleeding.

Her Sigil energy was fully depleted.

There were dozens of external wounds.

“Alright, job done. Hand over the crystals and I’ll be on my way. You take your time healing.”

Fiona’s consciousness was already beginning to fade.

“I… can’t get them out… right now. Next time…”

Steven’s eyes went wide. “Seriously? You’re stiffing me?”

Fiona was too pissed to even talk.

Do I look like the kind of person who goes back on her word?

“I’ll get them myself, then.”

Fiona panicked.

“No! That’s my… spatial converter… it’s private…”

Steven decided to drop it. The truth was, he simply didn’t want any more entanglements with Fiona going forward.

“What, you’ve got lingerie in there or something? Damn it.

“You know what? Take your time to heal up. I don’t want them anymore. The level 2 crystal is enough.”

Steven stomped out, thoroughly annoyed.

I willfind you.

I owe you… and I pay my debts.

Steven waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t even ask. Only killed 100–something.”

Serena was stunned.

What was that tone supposed to mean?

A hundredsomething was a few to him?

And he was a freshman.

She was an SS–rank herself, and she genuinely wouldn’t dare face beasts alone right now.

Wasn’t Steven a Brank?

Serena raised her hand tentatively. “Can I ask a question?”

Steven smiled. “Go ahead.”

“How did you actually do that? Aren’t you a freshman?”

Steven and Bianca exchanged a glance. That was their little secret.

“I’ve got a five–star combat power rating. Why wouldn’t I be able to handle it?”

Serena felt like her grip on reality was slipping. A five–star combat power rating made it possible?

Sigil power was supposed to be an insurmountable divide.

Steven wasn’t about to over–explain.

“Let’s go.”

Bianca helped change the subject.

“Steven, why only that many? Did something happen?”

Steven didn’t see the point in hiding it.

“I ran into Fiona. She got a level 2 beast on her tail…”
