Reborn Aperalypse Ready, War Goddess by My Side
Chapter 137 Pride and Stubbornness
She had really, truly won.
She tried to stand, but her body refused to obey.
That final tail strike had broken more bones than she could count.
The damage was severe.
All she could do was sit there in pain, unable to move an inch.
And yet, despite all of it, a fragile thread of joy crept into her heart. Her eyes glistened.
On her own, she could do it. She wasn’t afraid to die.
The tension slowly drained from her body.
She sat there, staring at the level 2 Bloodfang Rat’s corpse.

For as long as she could remember, she’d never experienced anything like this. She’d grown up wrapped in layers of protection from everyone around her.
No matter who they were, the moment they learned her background, they’d throw themselves in front of any threat for her.
A real fight–one where she relied on nothing but her own power, where life and death hung in the balance–was something she’d never once experienced.
She believed, with absolute conviction, that she could grow strong enough to escape his suffocating, obsessive protection for good.
To become a true fighter in her own right.
Steven watched Fiona from a distance.
He muttered to himself.
(‘
“She’s actually smiling. Does she have any idea how many beasts are closing in right now?”
But then again, he could sort of understand.
In his memories of his previous life, he didn’t know much about Fiona.
Only that her background was extraordinary–some immensely powerful family, a prodigy everyone called a born legend, destined for the summit.
Which meant she was the last person who’d ever go hungry or need to fight for scraps. She had no reason to be out here risking her life like this.
So, that dazed little smile of hers… quite interesting.

The way
she’d refused backup no matter what, even when death was staring her in the face…
Steven could roughly guess the reason.
The poor had their burdens, and the rich had theirs.
The weak had their helplessness, and the strong had burdens of their own.
That said-
Her third–sigil pattern power was genuinely terrifying.
Steven recalled the name: Frostdragon Thousand–Blade Cleave.
That was exactly what she’d just used.
In his previous life, this technique had been legendary.

The rumors said that at higher levels, her Frostdragon Thousand–Blade Cleave could actually conjure thousands upon thousands of frost blades.
And the main blade in her hand could grow to over 300 feet.
A single swing, and everything in its path would be annihilated.
What she’d just done–killing a Bloodfang Rat on the brink of level 3 evolution with a single finishing blow -was nothing to scoff at.
Steven frowned. His psychic sense was picking up more and more beasts converging on their position.
The blood from the level 2 beast was drawing them in.
Fiona had poured every last drop of energy into that final attack. Her Sigil was empty, and she had no ability to fight whatsoever.
Steven scoffed quietly. “Something’s seriously wrong with her head. She hadn’t even left herself a drop of energy.”
Fiona sat slumped against the tree stump, unable to rise.
Am I really just going to sit here and die?
Fiona’s eyes widened. He came back after all.
What she saw was Steven tearing through the beasts with a spear technique so ferocious and refined that it exceeded anything she’d imagined possible.
The spearwork was devastatingly practiced and overwhelmingly powerful.
Fiona considered herself skilled, and even she wasn’t close to this level.
She didn’t recognize him at all. There shouldn’t be anyone at the Three–Sigil level with spear skills this formidable.
He wasn’t even using his Divine Sigil power, and he was caving in level 1 beast skulls like they were made of paper.
Blood sprayed, flesh tore, and severed heads rolled across the forest floor.
Steven didn’t pause for a single heartbeat after clearing the immediate threats.
He spun and charged the beasts that were feasting on the level 2 rat’s corpse.
His methods were ruthless and efficient.
One thrust, one kill. He never needed a second.
Every strike was pure physical force–not a trace of Sigil power.

Flushed
Fiona was dumbstruck. He could kill beasts without any Sigil power at all?
Was that… even possible?
He finished the last few beasts in seconds.
Without saying a word, he moved from corpse to corpse, digging out every beast crystal with practiced efficiency.
He stored them all in his spatial converter.
Then, expression completely flat, he walked over to Fiona.
He tossed the level 2 beast crystal to her.
Fiona’s eyes flickered. Whatever tension had existed between them that morning, she wanted to thank him.
