Chapter 125 Amelia Worcester
Steven smiled warmly, “Hey, Amy.”
Amelia laughed, bright and musical. “Hey, Steven.”

Her eyes carried a particular kind of light that had nothing to do with simple friendliness, the unmistakable gleam of someone revising their options in real time.
Steven read her perfectly.
“Nelson, I say this with love, but you better not be the kind of guy who forgets his oldest friend the moment a pretty girl shows up.”
Nelson’s face went red immediately.
“Amy, please ignore everything he just said.”
Amelia smiled with practiced, honeyed sweetness. “I get it. That’s just how guys are with each other. I’m not bothered at all.”
Nelson turned back to Steven with urgency written all over his face. “Steven, I really have to run. Class is starting and I am not getting yelled at today. We’ll catch up when I have time, I promise.”
Steven nodded easily. “Get out of here then.”
Amelia gave Steven a small, lingering wave as they turned to leave.
“Bye, Steven.”
The warmth in her eyes as she looked at him was impossible to mistake.
Steven watched them go.
His gaze settled on Amelia’s retreating figure, and something gold and quiet moved through his thoughts.
Amelia was average in most respects. She was pleasant enough to look at, but nothing remarkable.
On the surface, she came across as sweet and agreeable and had a gentle, unassuming presence.
But she wasn’t a good person.
Her true character ran in a completely different direction.
In his previous life, she latched onto Nelson and spent years grinding him down.
Nelson gave her everything he had. Every divine crystal he saved went her way.
On the surface, they looked like a couple in love for two solid years.
Then Amelia found someone better, turned around, and dropped Nelson without a second thought or a single backward glance.

There was no real feeling behind any of it.
Amelia was also B–rank, which meant she was clear–eyed enough to know that chasing an A–rank partner wasn’t a realistic prospect.
She knew her limitations.
She moved deliberately, found a target, played the long game carefully, and landed Nelson as her means to an end.
Two years of effort, and it never went further than holding hands. She never gave him anything real.
Not in this life. Amelia isn’t getting anywhere near Nelson this time around.
Steven shelved the thought and made his way toward his class’s combat training room.
By the time he arrived, everyone was already deep in sparring.
The room buzzed with the sharp energy of live combat, pairs of students cycling through exchanges across every station.
One student stood alone with no partner.
Wendy noticed Steven’s late arrival and didn’t say anything about it.
“Pick a combat art from the selection and start working through it,” Wendy told him.
Steven smiled at her with easy, untroubled confidence. “Ms. Franklin, do you honestly think a basic entry- level combat art is going to do anything for me at this point?”
Wendy went quiet for a beat.
She had to admit he had a point.
The student standing alone nearby didn’t look particularly thrilled by this exchange.
“Ms. Franklin, if he’s my assigned sparring partner, I might as well sit this one out.”

Steven let out a short laugh, privately thinking that this class was probably not the most productive use of his time.
Wendy’s brow creased. She hadn’t anticipated having a student like this in her roster.
Steven clearly has no business being in the B–rank class. He belongs in S–rank.
“I was hoping you’d say that.”
Wendy’s eyes narrowed slightly, her attention snagging on the spatial converter with quiet surprise. He already has one of those.
“Steven,” Wendy said, her voice measured and even, “a level 5 combat rating doesn’t make you invincible. Starting right now, I’m going to show you exactly what that means.”
Steven gave a polite nod. “I appreciate the effort, Ms. Franklin.”
Wendy’s expression went cold and sharp the moment the Tyrant Spear settled into her grip, and the entire presence she carried shifted into something different, something harder and more dangerous.

She was already striking to look at under ordinary circumstances.
Right now, in this state, she was something else entirely.
A beautiful force of nature in full battle readiness.
That was about the most accurate description possible.
“Come at me,” Wendy said, her voice dropping to something low and precise.
Steven laughed softly. “With respect, Ms. Franklin, here I come.”
Steven tightened his grip on the black spear, and his entire bearing transformed in the same breath.
His foot drove into the floor, and he launched forward in an explosive burst of speed that split the air around him with a sharp, pressurized crack.
Wendy’s eyes locked on immediately with pure, honed focus.
That speed is extraordinary.
It’s nothing a One–Sigil Awakened should be capable of producing
Wendy’s combat instincts were exceptional, and every one of them fired at once.
