Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce novel Chapter 649

Chapter 649: Chapter 649: Downcast

Nathaniel Monroe’s expression was grave. "Then we have to find the best doctor in the world. We have to get this treated."

His gaze then swept around the hospital room as he asked in confusion, "Walker, where’s Chloe?"

"What do you want with me?"

An emotionless, electronic female voice sounded from behind him, unfamiliar and strange.

Nathaniel Monroe turned and met Chloe Reed’s crystal-clear eyes. She was just returning, a bag in her hand.

She was holding a phone, and that voice from a moment ago must have come from it.

Nathaniel Monroe shot to his feet, his relaxed demeanor gone, replaced by a certain stiffness. "Chloe, I heard you and Walker were both hurt, so I came to see how you were doing."

He studied Chloe Reed carefully before speaking. "It’s a relief you’re mostly all right. It’s just... Walker can’t see now. I guess he’ll be depending on you to take care of him from now on."

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze and continued typing. "My voice is gone."

"Ah..."

Nathaniel Monroe was completely stunned. A wave of regret washed over him; he wanted to slap himself across the face.

’What was I even saying?!’

’Someone kill me!’

Walker Grant’s voice was tinged with a faint chill. "Is there anything else?"

Nathaniel Monroe said haltingly, "N-no. Nothing."

"Then leave," Walker Grant said, issuing a cold, heartless dismissal. "You’re in the way."

Nathaniel Monroe: "..."

A pitifully wronged expression immediately appeared on his face.

He was about to play the victim to win Walker Grant’s sympathy, but then his eyes landed on Walker’s face, swathed in white gauze.

Nathaniel Monroe: "..."

’I’m such an idiot!’

"All right, well, I’ll get going. Just call me if you need anything," Nathaniel Monroe said, incredibly embarrassed.

"Wait."

Dylan Finch blinked. "You never asked."

Nathaniel Monroe: "..."

His fists clenched.

He covered his face with his hand and sighed deeply.

Dylan Finch asked, confused, "What’s wrong?"

Nathaniel Monroe’s muffled voice replied, "It’s nothing. I just want to die."

Dylan Finch: "?"

「Inside the hospital room.」

"Chloe."

Walker Grant turned his face in her direction.

Chloe Reed walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, tracing a question mark on the back of his hand.
