Nathaniel Monroe sat on the floor, his breathing ragged and a grim look on his face.
Chloe Reed suddenly turned to look at Walker Grant and asked, "If you fought him, who would win?"
Walker Grant raised an eyebrow slightly. "You want to see?"
A playful, teasing smirk touched his lips as he looked at her.
"If you want to watch, it’ll cost you."
Chloe Reed looked away, her expression blank. "Then I don’t want to watch."
Walker Grant chuckled.
Nathaniel Monroe chimed in from the side, "Chloe, you might not know what Walker’s capable of. Daniel Hayes is no match for him."
A flicker of curiosity crossed Chloe Reed’s eyes. She looked at Daniel Hayes, who just gave an embarrassed cough and said nothing.
This only made Chloe Reed more curious.
’Seriously?’
’Daniel Hayes couldn’t beat Walker Grant?’
’She’d seen how vicious Walker Grant could be when he flew into a rage, but Daniel Hayes was no slouch, either.’
Her gaze shifted back to the man beside her. He had already taken off his jacket and was unhurriedly unfastening his cufflinks.
At the sight, a glint appeared in her eyes.
Walker Grant stood up. "Alright, let’s loosen up a bit."
Daniel Hayes: "..."
’He didn’t really want to.’
’But when he glanced over and saw Chloe Reed’s eyes shining with excitement, it seemed he couldn’t refuse, could he?’
’Fine.’
’Won’t a punch like that flatten his face?’
She squeezed her eyes shut instinctively, but couldn’t resist cracking one open to peek.
But what she saw was Walker Grant effortlessly dodging Daniel Hayes’s fist. He even caught the man’s arm, used his momentum to throw him off balance, then yanked him back in, and with a swift turn, threw him to the ground.
Chloe Reed: "!!!"
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
"Heh, see, Chloe? I told you so, right?" Nathaniel Monroe couldn’t help but cheer from the sidelines. He then looked over at Chloe Reed, his tone like he was showing off a prized treasure.
Chloe Reed was stunned. It took her a moment to say, "I was mentally prepared for it, but I never thought it would be that effortless."
Nathaniel Monroe sighed. "Walker hasn’t really gotten his hands dirty much in the last few years. I still remember a while back, he’d start a fight over the slightest disagreement. He made a lot of people fear him. Just the sight of him would make them tremble."
He paused, then looked at Chloe Reed. "You two were already together back then, but Walker was afraid that side of him would scare you. He never brought any of it up in front of you, and he certainly never let you find out."
At his words, Chloe Reed’s long lashes trembled. These were things she truly never knew.
