Ruth heard every word they exchanged. Though she thought the pair were overly affectionate, genuine joy welled up inside her.

After all these years, Damian had finally gotten what he wanted. As long as the two of them stayed happy together, Ruth was more than willing to accept Scarlett as her son's wife. A soft smile tugged at her lips at the thought. She then turned and walked out of the hall, pulling the door shut behind her.

Once Ruth was gone, Scarlett lifted her head from Damian's chest. She shot him a sharp, stern glare. "Damian, you had no sense of decency even when your mom was here. Do you want her to end up disliking me?"

As she sat up, her bare body was accidentally exposed. Damian looked at her openly, his gaze filled with admiration and amusement. "Mom will never dislike you."

Realizing where his eyes were wandering, Scarlett quickly covered herself, flustered. "Damian... you shameless flirt."

She wanted to hurl harsh words at him, yet faced with his strikingly handsome face, she could not bring herself to do so. Even her rebukes came out sounding like gentle coquetry.

Damian chuckled softly. He tilted his head and looked at her with a grin. "Only just figured that out?"

Helpless, Scarlett raised her hand to swat at him. "How can you be so brazen?"

Damian caught her wrist firmly and pressed her hand against his chest. His eyes lingered on hers warmly. "Could you ever bring yourself to hit me?"

Scarlett stared into his deep eyes, feeling as if she might get lost in them. She turned her head away and wriggled her hand free slightly. "Damian, I need to head back now."

Damian pulled her close, resting his forehead against hers. "You're staying here tonight."

The thought made Scarlett hesitate. "I can't. If my brother finds out, he'll scold me."

Damian lifted her chin with his fingers and spoke frankly, "I already texted him to say you won't be going home tonight. He's replied to say he knows."

Panic flashed across Scarlett's face. "You're not lying to me, are you?"

"I'll show you." Damian reached for his phone on the coffee table, unlocked the screen and held it out for her to see their chat history.

The messages between him and Nathan were clearly displayed.

Damian messaged, "Nathan, Scarlett has fallen asleep here. May I keep her for the night?"
