Seeing Scarlett's flustered look, Damian decided to tease her further, grinning mischievously. "Answer me. Did you like me coming in?"
Warmth spread across Scarlett's body. She lifted her head and shot him a glare. "Put me down. The clerk's still right outside."
Damian wore a bright smile. "Answer my question, and I'll let you go."
Scarlett turned her head away, her neck flushed red. She nodded and mumbled softly, "I... I liked it."
Her reply came quickly, as if she were just brushing him off. Yet she spoke the truth. She truly loved the way Damian made her feel. Even just moments ago, she had been tempted to throw caution to the wind.
A sweet, lingering smile tugged at Damian's lips. He leaned down and pressed a light kiss to her lips, pulling back soon after. "Go get changed. Once you're done, I'll take you back to my place."
When Scarlett stepped out of the fitting room, Damian had already settled the bill. The clerk packed up the gowns and explained how to care for the fabrics, but Damian did not stay to listen. He turned to Scarlett. "Let's head home."
His eyes crinkled like crescent moons, filled with deep, alluring amusement. The unspoken emotion in his clear gaze was impossible to miss. Scarlett understood his meaning and nodded. "Alright."
She walked over and laced her fingers through his. Damian instantly tightened his hold around her hand.
The two left the bridal shop and headed straight for the stairwell. Inside the elevator, Scarlett stared at the descending numbers on the panel, feeling as if the short ride would never end. Damian felt exactly the same. Neither said a word, bound by a quiet, mutual understanding.
The elevator finally reached the underground parking level. Damian walked briskly ahead, and Scarlett hurried along behind him with quick, small steps. Noticing she could barely keep up, he slowed his pace.
They reached the car, and Damian stowed the gowns in the trunk. He walked to the passenger side, ready to open the door for her, when a bold thought crossed his mind. He acted on it without hesitation.
He spun around and pulled open the rear door. Before Scarlett could ask what he was doing, he grabbed her wrist, slid into the back seat, and pulled her down onto his lap.
Seeing his playful manner fade, Scarlett gave a small nod. "I do."
She tilted back her fair neck, soft, breathy sounds escaping her lips.
Damian held her tight in his arms to keep her from slipping off his lap. He bent his head to kiss her neck, his lips trailing slowly downward until they reached her chest. He undid the buttons of her top one after another with gentle kisses.
When her upper body was fully bare before him, he let his affection run free, pressing tender kisses across every inch of her skin. His every touch soothed and stirred her, like refreshing rain falling upon parched earth.
Damian laid her down gently on the back seat, and their intimacy deepened...
After that, Damian seemed never to have his fill. He cradled Scarlett in his arms, kissing and luring her, fanning the flames of desire in her heart once more. He rested against the rear seat, Scarlett sitting on his thighs, and held her intimately a second time.
