No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 762

The clerk shook his head apologetically. "No, sir. Earliest possible date is another thirty days from now."

Thirty days.

Not impossibly long, but not short either.

For Scarlett, though, it felt like another entire month trapped in misery.

Vincent seemed just as anxious to finalize the divorce, because he kept trying to push for another option.

But no matter what he said, the clerk only repeated the same explanation.

"I'm sorry, but we're only authorized to follow procedure. There's nothing we can change."

In the end, Scarlett and Vincent both left irritated and frustrated.

By seven that evening, Scarlett was back at Theron Manor.

After dinner, she sat near the front entrance with a bowl of fruit the housekeeper had sliced for her earlier, though she hadn't eaten a single piece.

She simply held the bowl in her lap while staring blankly toward the front doors, quietly waiting for someone to come home.

At the same time, she was waiting for a call.

But the minutes dragged by.

No footsteps appeared outside. And her phone never rang.

As the sky darkened completely, Scarlett finally gave up waiting.

She carried the stool back inside, wrapped the untouched fruit in plastic wrap, and placed it in the refrigerator.

After heading upstairs, she took a shower.

When she came back out and checked her phone again, there was still nothing from Damian.

No missed calls. No messages.

That crushing feeling of disappointed hope was something Scarlett knew far too well.

And she hated every second of it.

She climbed into bed without even opening social media and pulled the comforter over her head.

But the moment the room went quiet, her thoughts spiraled again.

The divorce falling apart.

Damian disappearing all day.

The more she thought about it, the worse her headache became.

Just as she threw the blanket aside in frustration, a knock suddenly sounded at the door.

Scarlett startled so hard her voice trembled. "Who is it?"

Violet's gentle voice came through the other side. "It's me. I need to talk to you."

Scarlett quickly fixed the blanket before answering, "Come in, Violet."

The moment Violet entered, she walked straight to the bedside.

After hesitating for several seconds, she finally said carefully, "Something happened to Damian."

The more she spoke, the more emotional she became until she was nearly gasping for breath.

Violet immediately rubbed her back gently. "Scarlett, you need to calm down. Damian isn't someone who falls apart easily. He probably rushed things this time and got caught in one of Vincent's setups, but he'll get through it."

But Scarlett still couldn't calm herself.

Looking desperately at Violet, she asked, "Where is he? Which federal holding center?"

Violet grabbed both her arms firmly and said seriously, "If you still think of me as family, then listen to me. Don't go anywhere tonight. Trust Damian. He'll be alright."

Scarlett stared blankly at her for a long time before finally nodding weakly.

"Okay... I understand."

Violet gently smoothed Scarlett's hair. "Good. Try to sleep. When you wake up tomorrow, things won't feel this unbearable."

Scarlett nodded numbly again. "Okay."

Violet stayed with her for a long time before finally leaving the room.

But after she left, Scarlett still couldn't sleep no matter how many times she turned over in bed.

Damian had been dragged into all of this because of her.

How could she possibly feel at peace?

By nine o'clock, Scarlett finally stopped waiting.

She had made up her mind.

She was going to see Vincent.
