Noticing Lily's absent-mindedness, Sabrina turned toward her with visible displeasure. Watching Lily drift off in thought, she finally said, "Lily, thank you for everything tonight."
The words instantly snapped Lily back to reality.
She turned toward Sabrina, and the moment their eyes met, Lily clearly caught the cold sharpness hidden in Sabrina's gaze.
The look in her eyes was genuinely chilling.
Startled, Lily quickly lowered her head and answered nervously, "N-no, it's nothing. You're too kind, Miss Monroe."
The moment Sabrina heard that title, her expression darkened further.
"Miss Monroe?"
Lily obviously knew she'd said the wrong thing, but no matter how hard she tried, she simply couldn't bring herself to change it.
To her, only Scarlett deserved to be called Mrs. Stewart.
Seeing Lily stay silent instead of correcting herself, Sabrina finally reminded her coldly, "Lily, you heard what Vincent called me earlier, didn't you?"
Lily nodded stiffly. "Yes."
Sabrina's tone turned colder. "Then why aren't you addressing me properly?"
Lily froze under the pressure.
Several long seconds passed before she finally forced herself to say quietly, "Mrs. Stewart."
Her voice was soft, and the reluctance behind it was impossible to miss.
Naturally, Sabrina noticed.
"Lily," she said with a faint smile, "you may have worked here a long time, but you should still know how to read a situation. If I tell Vincent you're not treating me properly, do you really think you'd still have a job here?"
Lily swallowed down the frustration building inside her and lowered her head further. "Understood, Mrs. Stewart."
Seeing Lily forced into submission made Sabrina feel deeply satisfied.
After entering the house, they had barely sat down when Vincent walked in with Maria and Jacob.
Jacob still wasn't moving very well physically, so Vincent carefully supported him the entire way inside.
"Watch the step," Vincent reminded him quietly as they walked.
Maria followed beside them without even getting the chance to help.
Watching Vincent go this far for her parents made the smile on Sabrina's face deepen even more.
The moment she remembered him saying let's get married at the hospital yesterday, excitement surged through her chest all over again.
It wasn't the first time Vincent had said those words to her.
But this time felt completely different.
This time, she'd genuinely seen sincerity in his eyes.
Halfway through speaking, Vanessa suddenly noticed Maria sitting nearby on the couch.
The second she saw her, her body visibly stiffened.
Sabrina immediately realized what Vanessa was afraid of and subtly shifted to block Maria from her sight.
"Vanessa," she coaxed softly, "I'm not leaving this time, okay?"
Vanessa nodded hard. "Okay."
Sabrina gently wiped the tears from her face before affectionately rubbing her cheek. "Alright then. Let's eat dinner."
At that moment, Vincent walked over as well. He bent slightly to help Sabrina back to her feet and said with a helpless smile, "You spoil her way too much. She's going to become impossible."
Sabrina smiled softly. "Girls deserve to be spoiled."
Vincent held Sabrina's hand and guided her to the seat beside Maria while Vanessa stayed glued to Sabrina's side the entire time.
The atmosphere during dinner felt unusually warm.
After dinner, Vincent carried Sabrina upstairs himself before asking Lily to escort Maria and Jacob over to the guest house next door for the night.
Vanessa still wasn't sleepy, so she quietly snuck into Sabrina's bedroom afterward.
Vincent noticed her slip inside, but he didn't say anything.
