Scarlett hadn't slept well the entire night after Vincent threatened her.
When she finally managed to fall asleep, she ended up trapped in that horrifying nightmare about Violet.
Even now, after waking up, the fear still clung tightly to her chest.
Violet looked completely confused as she gently wrapped an arm around Scarlett and asked softly, "What's going on?"
Scarlett lifted her tear-streaked face and looked at her for a long moment before answering in a trembling voice, "Seeing you standing here safe and okay just makes me really happy."
Violet smiled helplessly as she reached up to wipe the sweat from Scarlett's forehead. "Weren't you staying at the hospital with Nolan? Why'd you suddenly run home saying all these strange things?"
Scarlett had just opened her mouth to answer when a sharp pain suddenly shot through her leg.
A muffled groan escaped her lips.
Before she could steady herself, her body tilted backward.
At that exact moment, Damian walked in through the front door. His expression changed instantly as he strode over and caught her before she fell, then lifted her effortlessly into his arms and carried her over to the couch.
Scarlett clutched her injured leg tightly, her face pale from pain.
"It hurts..."
Damian crouched beside her and pressed his hand carefully over the area where she'd had surgery. Even through the fabric of her clothes, the warmth from his palm spread slowly across her skin.
Strangely, the sharp throbbing in her leg gradually began to ease.
Scarlett's breathing finally settled after several long moments, and the pain on her face slowly faded away as Damian continued gently rubbing the area.
Violet had originally planned to leave the house, but after seeing Scarlett like this, she quietly set her purse back down and sat beside her instead.
Holding Scarlett's hand, she asked worriedly, "What happened? Were you overthinking things again?"
The nightmare still lingered vividly in Scarlett's mind.
Violet's miserable ending and those horrifying videos had all felt unbearably real.
But now Violet was sitting right in front of her completely unharmed, and that alone made Scarlett feel like she could finally breathe again.
Looking at her, Scarlett forced out a small smile, though her eyes were still red.
"Can you stay home with me today?"
Violet laughed softly at that. "You're already an adult, Scarlett. Why are you acting like a little kid?"
But Scarlett couldn't laugh.
What if Vincent really planned to target the Theron family?
She couldn't risk it.
More than anything, she was terrified her family would get dragged into this because of her.
Tightening her grip around Violet's hand, Scarlett looked at her pleadingly.
"Please."
Violet instinctively started to answer, "But I still have a shoot today..."
Halfway through the sentence, she stopped.
Seeing Scarlett this shaken made her heart ache.
In the end, she sighed in surrender.
"Alright, alright. I'll stay home with you. I'm not going anywhere."
Only then did Scarlett finally smile.
At that moment, Damian's phone rang.
He stood up with his phone and walked toward the front entrance before answering quietly, "What is it?"
Brett's voice came through the line.
Still, Violet couldn't hold back her curiosity forever.
Looking directly at Scarlett, she asked bluntly, "So, have you figured it out yet?"
Scarlett sat curled beneath a blanket with her injured leg tucked carefully underneath it. Hearing the question, she looked over in confusion.
"Figured out what?"
"Damian," Violet answered immediately. "Are you still unsure about being with him?"
Scarlett lowered her gaze and shook her head slowly.
"I honestly don't know."
Violet moved closer and took her hand again.
"You don't have feelings for him?"
Scarlett hesitated briefly before answering in a hoarse voice, "I think I probably do."
Violet laughed softly. "Then what exactly are you scared of?"
The memory of Vincent threatening her the previous night immediately surfaced in Scarlett's mind, making her expression tense again.
"My divorce from Vincent still needs another six months before it's finalized," she said quietly. "Until everything's legally finished, nothing's going to happen between me and Damian."
Violet reached over and lightly pinched her cheek with a smile.
"And after those six months? Are you finally bringing him home officially so Nathan and I can give him the gift we've been holding onto all these years?"
Scarlett blinked in surprise.
"A gift?"
Violet nodded.
"Nathan actually prepared it back when you married Vincent. He just never got the chance to give it to you, so it's been sitting in a drawer ever since."
