No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 716

Ethan and Kylie were arguing upstairs—their voices carried down, though the butler couldn't make out the words.

When Ethan came down the stairs, the butler approached him promptly. "Mr. Warren."

Ethan glanced over, his voice rough. "Any updates?"

The butler shook his head apologetically. "Nothing yet, I'm afraid."

Ethan let out a weary sigh. "At this point... he could be long gone."

"He has always had luck on his side," the butler offered gently. "I'm sure someone's looking out for him. Who's to say he hasn't made a name for himself somewhere?"

A faint, tired smile touched Ethan's lips. "I hope you're right."

Stepping forward, the butler offered a steadying arm as they descended. "Miracles happen. I truly believe that."

"Do you?" Ethan murmured.

"Yes, Mr. Warren," the butler replied softly. "I do."

After dinner, Scarlett was curled up on the couch, scrolling through her phone. She was waiting—for a call, for a text, for him to walk through the door.

Two hours slipped by with no word from Damian.

She didn't reach out. She knew he'd get in touch once he was done, even if every passing minute made it harder to focus on the screen in front of her.

Then, her phone rang.

Without checking the ID, she answered, her voice bright with expectation. "Hello?"

But it was Vincent on the other end. "It's me."

Her tone flattened instantly. "What do you want?"

"Can you come down? I'd like to see you."

"Whatever you have to say, say it now," she replied coolly.

"Just come down, Scarlett. Please. Face to face."

"There's nothing left for us to talk about."

Hearing the finality in her voice, Vincent rushed out, "Come back with me. Let me take care of you."

Watching him struggle, Damian chuckled softly. He tilted his chin up, confidence radiating from him. "You don't know any of that, do you? But I do."

He took a small step forward, holding Vincent's stunned gaze. "She orders the baby back ribs from Mario's every Friday. She leans into black and powder blue. She wears a size 4 or 6 in dresses, a size 6 in shoes. Her birthday is November 29. And what she hates more than anything... is betrayal. Being lied to. Not being trusted."

With every detail, Vincent seemed to shrink back slightly.

When Vincent still didn't—couldn't—respond, Damian went on, quieter now. "Vincent, let's be honest. You never really loved her. Not the way she deserved. Everything you're doing now... it's just because you can't stand losing."

He held Vincent's eyes for a long, heavy moment before adding, almost gently, "Let her go. Leave her with me. I'll give her the life you never did."

Vincent stared back, speechless, his earlier anger dissolved into something hollow.

Clearly done with the conversation, Damian turned and knocked firmly on the heavy oak door of Theron Manor.

A moment later, Violet's voice filtered through. "Who is it?"

"It's Damian, Violet," he called back, tone warm and open.

The door unlocked and swung inward. Violet peeked out, then smiled when she saw him, quickly pulling it wide.

"Oh, Damian! Come in, come in—it's freezing out. You'll catch a chill, and then Scarlett will have my head."
