No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 684

The dark figure remained silent.

Melinda didn't wait any longer. She crouched down and reached out to nudge the person slumped against the flowerbed.

The next moment, Damian's body tilted slightly, then slumped fully onto the snow-covered ground.

Seeing it was really him, Melinda felt a surge of relief mixed with panic.

She tried to help him up, letting him lean against her shoulder.

Just then, Damian's eyes snapped open. His face was pale as he stared coldly at her and said, "Don't touch me."

Even with the blood visible on his clothes, Melinda still tried to support him after he pushed her away.

Damian avoided her gaze and attempted to rise on his own, but as soon as he pushed himself up, his tall frame collapsed back down.

Melinda quickly moved to steady him, her voice trembling with worry. "Do you hate me that much? You can't even stand me helping you?"

Damian stayed silent, gently but firmly pushing her away in clear refusal.

But Melinda grabbed his arm again, unwilling to back down. "Damian, face it—you and I keep finding each other. I saved you last time, and tonight I'm saving you again. We're tied together, like it or not. We're bound for life. You can't shake me off. And tonight, I'm helping you whether you want it or not..."

Tears streamed down her face as she spoke, but Damian didn't budge.

Feeling his resistance, Melinda turned to look at him and caught a faint, soft gleam in his eyes.

After a long pause, Damian suddenly let out a low, humorless laugh. Slowly, he pried her fingers from his arm, one by one.

Then, in a rough, tired voice, he asked, "Did I ever ask you to save me?"

Melinda was taken aback. "Damian, would you really rather die out here?"

The white snow around them was dotted with splashes of blood, a grim and unsettling sight.

Damian's laugh turned even darker. "Tonight, the only person who can save me is Scarlett."

With that, he forced himself up. Though the hospital was nearby, he didn't head toward it. Instead, he staggered to the roadside.

He lifted a hand and hailed a passing car.

Once inside, he gave the driver an address. "Theron Manor."

Melinda ran after him, crying out, "Damian, you're risking your life! For her, you'd throw everything away? Is she really that special? Is she worth this?"

The only response was the sound of the car horn as it pulled away.

Melinda stood frozen, tears cooling on her cheeks.

Gradually, she clenched her fists and screamed into the night, "Scarlett, why? Why did you take Nolan from me, and now Damian too? Why... Why?!"

But just before it shut, a bloodstained hand shot through the gap and gripped the frame tightly.

Scarlett froze in shock, though she didn't scream.

Almost immediately, she snapped back to herself and leaned halfway out to look.

There sat Damian, beside the air conditioning unit, his back against the wall. He looked utterly exhausted, drained, his eyes lacking their usual light.

Scarlett's heart clenched. She quickly reached both hands out to support him. "Damian, can you make it inside?"

Damian leaned heavily against the wall, his legs dangling. He took a few labored breaths. "Yeah... just give me a minute."

To see Scarlett, he'd dragged his injured body all the way up to the second floor.

The effort had left him with hardly any strength left.

It was freezing outside, but Damian was coated in a cold sweat. He could no longer tell whether his clothes were damp from sweat or from blood.

Full of worry, Scarlett said, "Wait here—I'll go get my brother."

She turned to leave the room, but Damian suddenly caught her hand.

"Scarlett," he said, his voice strained but clear, "I'm alright. Don't worry about me. I just... I only want you here right now."
