Third–person POV:

“What? Where’s Rockie? Have her come explain,” Laila said quickly.

Pearl shook her head. “She just came to pass the message and rushed back. I don’t know what happened, but she looked furious.”

Laila didn’t hesitate. “We’re going. Right now.”

Viola took a deep breath. “She’s giving birth already? I’m not ready for this. I’ve never seen it before.”

“Come on.” Laila grabbed her arm. “You’re not the one giving birth. If Rockie’s that angry, something’s wrong.”

The two shifted into their wolf forms and took off toward Thunder Pack.

Pearl, only a Beta, couldn’t keep up and had to stay behind.

Shawn had been tied to a tree by Bex. His face was bruised and swollen, and his body was covered in footprints.

Bex had forced something down his throat earlier. He couldn’t shift now, and he had no strength left. The frustration was driving him mad.

“You bitch, untie me! I’m the heir of Thunder Pack. You don’t get to treat me like this!”

Bex looked at him coldly. “You don’t get untied unless Ms. Whitmore delivers safely. Otherwise, I’ll kill you.”

Shawn shook with rage. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Evelyn approaching and immediately seized on it. “Mom! Help me!”

Evelyn looked at him, her expression full of pain, but even more anger.

“Can’t

you behave for once? Lillian’s about to give birth, and you still went to provoke her?” Shawn refused to back down. “That’s her fault. She’s been giving me attitude every day. She even cursed at me just now. If I didn’t hit her, what kind of man would I be?”

Evelyn had only gotten one word out when Bex slapped Shawn across the face, the sound sharp and loud.

“Say that again, and I’ll cut your tongue out.” Bex’s voice was ice cold.

Shawn’s face turned ugly. He had been pampered his entire life. He had never been humiliated like this. But there was something in Bex’s eyes that made him swallow the rest of his words.

Just then, a scream tore out from inside the house. “Ah! It hurts! It hurts so much!”

The sound was so raw that it made Shawn’s back go cold. Even his expression changed.

But he still muttered, “Childbirth always hurts… Does she have to scream like that?”

Bex turned her head, her wolf eyes narrowing as she locked onto him. “Shut up.”

Her voice was low, but it carried like a growl from deep in her throat.

“You pushed her down the stairs. She’s inside, bleeding right now, carrying your child. Say one more word, and I’ll knock the rest of your teeth out.”

Shawn’s face flushed dark. His mouth opened, then closed again.

Evelyn quickly stepped in. “Enough! Stop arguing! Lillian comes first right now! Laila’s on her way too. Do you want her to beat you again? She’s Prince Vance’s woman!”

Shawn stamped his foot in frustration. He wanted to say more, but the screams coming from inside kept rising, and something in his chest tightened.

“Isn’t there an apprentice from Dr. Sagewood inside? What are they even doing, letting her suffer like this?”

“I’m going to check.”

Evelyn was anxious too. She turned and rushed inside.

Inside the room, Lillian was writhing on the bed in pain. The wound on her forehead had stopped bleeding, but her entire face was badly swollen.

Shawn had pushed her down the stone steps.

Bex and Rockie hadn’t been there at the time. By the time Rockie ran over, she had already hit the ground.

The steps weren’t high, but Lillian was heavily pregnant. Her head had struck the edge of the first step. When Rockie picked her up, blood had already been pouring out.
