It happened all of a sudden. On a full–moon night, terrible pain exploded through his body. The pain sank deep into his bones, but he couldn’t even scream. It was like some powerful force had taken control of his body. All he could do was stay awake and feel the pain. Nothing else at all.

Even his wolf spirit, Vick, disappeared during it.

“Holt, what are we supposed to do now?” Vick asked inside his mind.

“Don’t worry. Laila will help us. I just need to find a chance to talk to her alone,” Holt replied in his mind. After all, Laila had once been his fated mate. He had treated her very well before. There was no way she would just leave him to die.

But Vick still felt uneasy. “Really? But we abandoned her before…”

Holt cut Vick off. “That was because she hid the fact that she was an Alpha. That was her responsibility, not mine. If she had told me from the start that she was an Alpha wolf, I never would’ve gotten together with Maris.

“Relax. Laila will help us. I’ll also have my beta investigate things in Solantia Kingdom. I think the werewolves there may have put this curse on us. They want revenge on Maris, and I just got dragged into

it.”

After Viola pulled Laila away, she kept watching what was happening behind them.
