But Estelle stopped Jenna.

A cold smile curled across her lips.

Jenna froze. “Wait? Why?”

Estelle explained calmly, “We wait until Samuel believes this matter has already passed safely… and then we strike him hard.”

Though Jenna did not fully understand, she knew one thing. Her mother was far smarter than she was. And that was enough.

“Alright, Mom. I’ll listen to you.”

Meanwhile, after Samuel returned to the Frostwind Pack, Greer gave him a brutal beating. The reason? Leaving the pack without permission.

Fortunately, nothing serious had happened, so after beating him up, the matter was considered settled.

Samuel obediently promised, “Ms. Livingston, I swear from now on I’ll listen to you. If you tell me not to go out, then even if the world ends, I won’t leave.”

Greer immediately sneered. “Oh, spare me. The moment Laila crooks a finger at you, you’ll run off with her anyway.”

Samuel’s cheeks instantly reddened. “Ms. Livingston …”

Seeing the lovestruck expression on his face, Greer truly felt speechless.

Samuel immediately smiled. “Then tomorrow I won’t go anywhere. I’ll stay by your side and keep you company.”

Greer only responded with a cold laugh.

Under the constant pressure of those mocking chuckles, Samuel finally forced himself to leave the Frostwind Pack.

King Vaughn had sent word that he needed to see him urgently.

After meeting him, Vaughn skipped all pleasantries and went straight to the point. “Take a look at this.”

He tossed a confidential letter toward Samuel.

Samuel opened it. His expression turned grave the moment he read the contents. The letter concerned an exchange of prisoners of war with the Ovila Kingdom.

Vaughn spoke solemnly. “The two kingdoms have been in a ceasefire for some time now. After several rounds of negotiations between Finneas and the Ovila Kingdom, an agreement has finally been reached. The captured soldiers are to be returned. But among them… there is one. person who escaped from the enemy camp after being captured and fled deeper into Ovila itself. Samuel, I believe you know who I’m referring to.”

Samuel paused. Vaughn continued, “He had been secretly gathering intelligence from within Ovila and passing it to General Conlay. After General Conlay died, the person receiving those reports became Callum. Later, Callum handed the connection over to you. But now… his identity has been exposed. He’s been captured.”

Samuel’s eyes immediately sharpened. “You mean Cottontail?”

Back when they investigated Solantian forces infiltrating through Ovila Kingdom, the intelligence had come through Cottontail’s network. It was Cottontail’s information that verified the truth of the intel Laila had brought back.

He had been captured?

Samuel’s chest tightened instantly.

Though he had never met Cottontail personally, he knew the man had been taken prisoner before General Conlay’s death, alongside several hundred other soldiers.

Samuel had not participated in that battle. At the time, he had not yet arrived at the Vagen Battlefield. Everything he knew came from Finneas‘ retelling.

That night, Ovila’s forces launched a surprise attack under the cover of darkness, setting fire to the military encampment. Countless soldiers burned alive. The two sides fought fiercely amid the flames, and it was during that battle where Terrence Woodses fell in combat.

Later, after Samuel succeeded General Conlay on the battlefield, he had captured Ovila soldiers multiple times in hopes of exchanging them for the prisoners previously taken. Every request had been rejected.
