My Alpha Wants Two Lunas? I'M Done (Laila and Holt) novel Chapter 19

Thirdperson POV:

The bards showing up to apologize had naturally been arranged by Estelle.

Under Samson’s watchful eye, killing those bards outright would attract far too much attention. But if she didn’t pay them and send them to apologize to Laila, they would certainly start causing trouble. Once they did, her name would inevitably come up.

Though she was furious and grinding her teeth in frustration, Estelle had no choice but to pay another 30 thousand and have someone deliver the money to them.

Once the bards got the money, they marched in a grand procession to the entrance of the Silvermoon Pack’s Alpha den.

Such a dramatic public apology immediately attracted half the werewolves in the territory, including the ones who had come to do business with the Silvermoon Pack.

Faulkner had deliberately arranged for the scene to take place outside the main gate of the wolf den. He wanted everyone to see it.

The bards stood in a row, shouting and admitting they had been greedy for money and had spread fabricated rumors to smear Laila.

Mixed within the crowd were people Samson had specifically arranged to stir things up. They began shouting questions.

“Was it Jenna from the Blackrock Pack who paid you?”

“Was it Jenna, or was it Estelle?”

“Hey, you can’t talk nonsense like that! You’ll die if you offend Estelle!”

“But it’s the truth. I heard that at Estelle’s birthday banquet, Laila even gave her a painting by Mr. Green. They accused it of being fake and tore it up on the spot!”

“By the Moon, didn’t Estelle say she loves fine art the most? Mr. Green’s paintings aren’t something you can just buy with money.”

“I heard Jenna was the one who tore it. She’s the Luna of the Blackrock Pack—a long–established pack. How could she not even recognize an authentic painting by Mr. Green?”

“Maybe Blackrock Pack only agreed to marry her because of her status. I heard they aren’t fate mates.”

When Margaret arrived at the entrance of Laila’s wolf den, those were the exact words she heard.

Her vision went dark with anger.

Margaret felt a little relieved.

Putting everything else aside, the Blackrock Pack didn’t want to make enemies for no reason. Whether it was Samuel or Laila, she had no desire to stand against them.

Their military achievements at the Vagen stronghold alone were enough to earn the respect of any pack. Blackrock Pack should be making friends with people like them, not falling into conflict because of a foolish woman.

Margaret sighed. “Laila, you’re very understanding, but I still feel deeply ashamed. If Alpha Samson hadn’t investigated and cleared things up, who knows what people might have said about you? It could even have affected your relationship with Prince Vance or delayed your mating ceremony. That would be a devastating blow.”

Laila simply shook her head slightly. “Mrs. Odonnell, for me, this really isn’t much of a blow. It’s nothing more than a few idle rumors.”

Not much of a blow?

Margaret stared at her in astonishment. She thought Laila was merely being generous, trying to brush the matter aside with calm dignity. But Laila’s expression was composed, her gaze steady and relaxed. She truly didn’t seem to care.

After thinking about it, Margaret understood.

She understood why Laila said those rumors meant nothing.
