Jerrick's gaze was so heavy and oppressive it made the sharp contours of his face look even more lethal.
"Collaborate?"
His tone was devoid of any inflection, chillingly stoic.
Yet, the hostility radiating from him was palpable. "Then what exactly is your purpose standing here, Mr. Joker?"
Julian's eyes crinkled slightly at the corners. He maintained his immaculate, aristocratic composure, the polite smile never once leaving his lips.
But the warmth had completely vanished from his expression.
"Mr. Fenris seems to have forgotten. I am not like certain security guards who have to skulk around the shadows of the logistics spine."
His smile sharpened into a blade. "I am Joker. The premier arms dealer in the world. I was personally invited into the inner workings of Project Zero-Transit as a VIP seller."
It sounded like a standard introduction between new business partners.
But the sheer arrogance dripping from every syllable made it feel like a slap to the face.
Jerrick listened to his arrogant speech and let out a dry, humorless scoff. "And?"
If anyone else had dared to speak to him with that level of condescension, he would have already buried their head in the steel floorboards.
The only reason he held back was because this Joker character was an ally of The Panacea.
Otherwise, he wouldn't waste a single second playing nice.
Julian didn't miss a beat. "Tonight, I have a batch of highly classified, unreleased ordnance that requires a final diagnostic check in the staging area."
"When I initiate that process, The Vessel's Systems Division, The Ballistics & Ordnance Unit, and Logistics Operations Control will have every single one of their cameras and personnel focused entirely on my cargo."
He casually flicked his gaze toward the massive pod. "As for whether you can manage to slip this monstrosity past their blind spots..."
He flashed Jerrick a condescending smirk. "That depends entirely on your competence, Mr. Fenris."
Jerrick's lips twitched into a terrifying sneer. "So, after all that grandstanding, your grand contribution is playing the decoy. Spoken like a true businessman—always taking the easy way out."
Julian's smile froze for a fraction of a second before expanding into something far more dangerous. "I simply believe in leaving manual labor to the hired muscle."
Jerrick let out a dark, mocking laugh.
The two men locked eyes, an invisible war raging between them.
