Messing With Her? Are You Crazy! novel Chapter 1650

Deep in the shadows of the Logistics Spine, near the backstage intersection, two Black Sun operatives checked their watches with mounting anxiety.

"Where the hell are they?" one muttered, his voice tight. "The backstage is getting crowded. If we delay this any longer, we're going to be compromised..."

He never finished the sentence.

A faint whisper of displaced air was his only warning. A hand clamped around his throat.

A sickening crunch echoed in the narrow corridor.

The operative crumpled to the steel grating before he could even process the attack.

His partner's face drained of color. He reached for his sidearm, but a matte-black blade materialized out of the gloom, slicing effortlessly across his throat.

A spray of crimson painted the wall, and then there was only silence.

A split second later, the dead man’s earpiece crackled to life. "Is the extraction point secured? Specimen Fourteen must be routed through the backstage immediately. No stops."

Specimen Fourteen.

The easy warmth drained from Julian's face, replaced by a chilling stillness.

It was exactly as he suspected.

The Obsidian Augments.

He reached down, plucking the earpiece from the corpse. With a casual squeeze of his fingers, he crushed the delicate tech into fragments.

Pulling a pristine white handkerchief from his breast pocket, he meticulously wiped his hands.

His movements were fluid and elegant, reeking of old money and untouchable power. He looked like a man who had merely spilled a drop of expensive wine, not someone who had just ruthlessly snapped a neck.

Looking down the corridor at the approaching transport team, a slow, dangerous smile curved his lips.

...

A few sectors away, Serena moved like a phantom. Following the tactical route provided by Fenris, she bypassed the ship's emergency security cordons and slipped into the Logistics Spine undetected.

He had deduced the real play and set up a chokepoint right on their transit route.

Leaning against the railing, Serena let her cool gaze sweep over him.

He radiated an aura of serene authority, his every movement dripping with the kind of effortless grace that usually belonged to a billionaire CEO—the type of man who destroyed lives with a flick of his pen from a penthouse suite.

He didn't look like a warlord. He looked entirely unarmed and physically unimposing. She couldn't help but wonder if this refined, elegant titan of industry could actually survive a clash with a squad of bloodthirsty Obsidian Sentinels.

...

Commander Richter stopped dead in his tracks, the blood rushing from his face as he recognized the man blocking their path.

"Joker?"

The name rippled through the transport team, instantly ratcheting the tension to a suffocating extreme.

Joker wasn't just a buyer; he was the apex predator of the underground arms network, commanding the most extensive grey-market empire on the planet.
