The professors shifted their focus back to Serena.
The breathtakingly beautiful girl was standing there, a wicked, knowing smirk playing on her lips as she locked eyes with Alaric Sinclair. Her luminous gaze was laced with a chilling mockery.
It was the look of a predator who had just watched a very stupid animal walk right into a steel trap.
The realization hit the professors instantly.
Their scientific oracle wasn't being cornered. She was fishing.
Serena leaned into her amusement, her eyes tracking Alaric's every micro-expression. She let out a soft, dark chuckle. It was the sound of sweet, inevitable victory.
She had been right.
The Sinclair family... belonged to the Obsidian Sun.
All his grand, noble speeches about transparency and saving lives were pure garbage. He didn't care about the experts. He cared about how much of her grandmother's legacy she possessed. He wanted the exact biological blueprints she had used to hack the mutated nervous systems and failing organs in Severia.
Those experts had been medically dead. Annihilated by Obsidian Sun's horrific experiments. She had used the fragmented data from her grandmother's journal, combined with the Ghost Doctor's acupuncture techniques, to forcefully rebuild their shattered bodies.
That was what the Obsidian Sun was desperate to get their hands on.
Serena tilted her head slightly. "Oh? So you speak for the international medical community now?"
The words hit like a physical blow. Alaric's expression tightened.
Her tone was sharp, aggressive, and completely unforgiving.
But he was the head of the Sinclair family. He had spent decades navigating high-stakes international summits and charity galas. He recovered instantly, his voice smooth and steady. "The Sinclair Foundation has bankrolled countless global initiatives. We partner with the world's elite research institutes. While I don't claim to represent the entire international community, I certainly have the authority to offer professional counsel."
Serena let out a low, dangerous laugh, the mockery in her eyes blazing. "Let me get this straight. You are using a non-profit charity as a crowbar to pry open my highly classified, proprietary patient data?"
