Her three brothers, along with Nicholas Blackwood, flanked her as she walked away.
The Elyndorian competitors watched their retreating backs until they completely disappeared down the hall.
Only then did they pull their gaze away.
Guided by the staff, they walked out to meet the waiting crowd.
Flowers, applause, and cheers instantly swallowed them whole.
Lydia Brooks was still staring in the direction Serena had vanished.
As she watched, a small smile broke across her face.
She turned around and accepted a bouquet from a little girl.
Tears spilled over her lashes.
"Thank you."
Thank you to everyone who came to welcome them.
And thank you to their captain, for pulling them all into the light.

Outside the VIP exit.
Several low-profile but unmistakably luxurious cars were parked along the curb.
The Lancaster family had been waiting there for hours.
Catherine Vinton stood at the very front.
She spotted Serena the second she walked out.
"Serena!"
Her voice instantly choked with sobs.
She rushed forward and pulled Serena into a desperate embrace.
Serena had barely stopped walking before she was enveloped in her mother's arms.
The familiar warmth and faint, comforting scent wrapped around her entirely.
Catherine's broken sobs echoed in her ears. "Serena, my sweet girl, you went through so much in Severia..."
She carefully avoided the bandages on Serena's shoulder and arm, yet she couldn't stop herself from holding her tight. "How did you lose so much weight?"
"Does your arm still hurt?"
"Are you feeling sick anywhere else?"
Question after question spilled out.
By the end, she was openly crying.
The cold edge in Serena's eyes completely melted away. She lifted a hand and gently patted Catherine's back. "Mom, I'm fine."
Standing nearby, Jasper casually drawled, "Dad, I didn't see you this stressed out when I came home with a bullet wound."
Edward didn't even turn his head. "You've got thick skin. How can you compare yourself to your sister?"
Jasper frowned. "Excuse me?"
Jerrick chimed in, "I came home with three broken ribs last time, and Mom just told me to go rest in my room."
Wiping her tears, Catherine finally spared him a glance. "You're her older brother."
Jerrick was left speechless.
Jasper immediately clutched his chest in mock agony. "I get it. We're just disposable."
Julian smiled warmly. "Are you two just realizing this now?"
They both snapped their heads toward him. "Don't think you escaped, Julian. You got ignored just as much as we did."
Julian's smile faltered for a fraction of a second.
It was true; Edward and Catherine hadn't asked him a single question since he stepped off the plane.
But Julian quickly recovered, his smile growing even more refined. "That's fine. Our sister is the priority."
Jasper and Jerrick sighed.
Well, obviously. Their sister was the absolute priority!
