Serena caught the raw hunger pooling in his eyes and let out a soft laugh.
It was the laugh of someone perfectly aware of the damage they were causing.
Nicholas closed his eyes tightly. When he opened them, his voice was a ragged rasp. "Keep laughing, and I'll fly to Severia right now."
Her smile only widened at the threat.
She let her eyes drift deliberately lower down the screen.
Even though the camera angle meant she couldn't actually see anything below his waist.
Nicholas felt the phantom weight of her stare exactly where she intended it, seeing right through his desperate, strained composure.
His gaze grew utterly predatory, his breathing increasingly labored.
The air between the two screens seemed to scorch.
Watching him suffer, Serena's smile turned utterly wicked.
But when she spoke, she flipped the switch to strict business. "Alright, let's talk facts."
Tossing her towel aside, she leaned forward. "What did you find?"
Nicholas's eyes were still glued to her delicate collarbones. "Little heartless one," he muttered, his throat tight.
Despite the complaint, he forced his expression to sober up.
Sitting up slightly, he switched modes. "The elevator data you synced during your run through the tech center? Ghost Alliance and my dark web engineers finished the initial decryption."
"Using the protocols you provided, we sliced through the standalone control systems and outer logic layers."
"We can definitively confirm that the elevator leads to an undocumented subterranean sector beneath the tech center."
"They all match profiles from Obsidian Sun's core ledger."
Serena looked at the sprawling list on her monitor.
It was a rogue's gallery of international fugitives, cartel bosses, and black-market arms dealers.
Mingled with high-profile elites whose public records were spotless, but who secretly held immense, terrifying leverage.
Serena looked up. "They're all at the tech center?"
"Yes," Nicholas said, his voice dropping to a glacial chill. "And they all timed their arrivals perfectly with the start of the tournament."
A lethal smile touched Serena's lips. "Obsidian Sun isn't gathering the worst scum on earth at a collegiate academic competition just to watch teenagers play with test tubes."
"They're planning something catastrophic."
