Chapter 99 

“You seem overly concerned about this woman, Scott.” 

Scott’s expression darkened as he looked at Emil with vigilance. “Prince Emill, this is my affair, and it’s none of your business. You’re meddling 

too much, aren’t you?” 

Emil laughed louder, but there was no amusement in his eyes. It was more like a resigned acceptance for him. 

“Fine, Scott. You told me you love white flowers the most and even taught me how to cultivate White Egret Flower. You even used it as your pen name when we wrote to each other, but is this the outcome you’re showing me? 

“So, what are you up to? Are you just taking advantage of me?” 

Emil seemed to have given up entirely, saying these words without caring about anyone else present. 

But Scott was flustered. He nervously glanced around, his eyes coldly fixed on Emil. 

“Prince Emil, don’t forget your identity! You’re a prince, you should be more careful with your words and actions. 

“yes, we did correspond by letters before, but that was in the past. And I encouraged you to be stronger back then, hoping your leg would recover sooner, I regarded you as a friend.” 

“Friends?” 

Emil closed his eyes. There was a sardonic smile on his face. “You consider me a friend? It seems I got the wrong idea. 

“The poison White Egret Flower you taught me to cultivate, I will never grow it again. 

“Let’s part ways here.” 

Emil straightened up, delivering his final words without even sparing a glance at Scott, then turned and left. 

His departing figure, as a prince, preserved his last shred of dignity. 

The atmosphere turned somewhat awkward, especially for Scott. 

“Layla, are you…alright?” Scott was more concerned about Lola’s attitude towards him. 

Lola’s expression was complex as she shook her head lightly. “I’m fine.” 

“That’s good then.” 

“It’s late, isn’t it inappropriate for you two young men to stay in my fiancée’s room?” Scott changed the subject, avoiding the earlier topic. 

Emil harbored feelings for Scott, and they could all see that. But ultimately, tonight’s incident had nothing to do with Scott. There was no need to complicate things by involving Emil’s feelings for him, and Dominick had no intention of continuing to talk about this matter. 

“The same goes for you.” 

Dominick gave Ethan a glance, then turned, and left. 

Ethan rolled his eyes. “You’re treating me like your subordinate. How outrageous! Extremely outrageous! 

“You come with us too. You have no reason to stay in my sister’s room at this hour.”

Ethan took Scott away. Before he left, he arranged for Lola to rest in another safe room before leaving. 

“I didn’t expect you to guess it right! if it didn’t happen in front of me, I wouldn’t have believed it. 

Dominick was ready to sleep, but Ethan barged into his room again. 

Dominick lowered his gaze, looking at Ethan expressionlessly. “Are you insane? 

“I’m about to rest, what are you doing here?” 

Ethan disregarded Dominick’s expression and plopped down on the sofa. 

“Do you have nothing to say after learning about this? Don’t you have any insights?” 

Dominick closed his eyes.

Ethan leaned closer. “So, you’re interested now? I thought someone like you wouldn’t be interested in anything. 

“I was saying, does he have any quirks? Why does he want to grow those flowers?” 

“The last sentence.” Dominick sat up, his gaze unusually 

all serious 

Ethan felt tense under Dominick’s gaze, unsure of what Dominick meant. 

“What…is it? Did you notice something again?” 

“I was just saying White Egret Flower might have a different meaning in the neighboring country’s language. 

“Egret?” Dominick’s sgaze bore into Ethan. 

Ethan felt a chill up his spine. “Are you saying that the deceased man wanted to say White Egret Flower? 

“Was that the word he didn’t get to say? 

“My personal doctor told me that the poison in the man’s body was quite unique. He could only identify the symptoms but couldn’t determine the cause of the poisoning.

“The reason it couldn’t be identified is because the poison isn’t from our country, so it’s safe to say It’s White Egret Flower, right?” 

Ethan, usually calm, was astonished by the sequence of clues pleced together. 

“It’s just our speculation, and we still don’t have evidence. Let’s not tip our hand too early.” 

Dominick remained relatively calm, his eyes revealing nothing of his thoughts. 

“We should have asked more questions just now. He’s growing flowers that are poisonous on contact, and he’s clearly doing it with ulterior motives! But unfortunately, Emil must have left by now. It’s too late to ask anything

Ethan understood Dominick’s meaning immediately. “Scott is not trustworthy. I don’t know why he sent someone to kidnap Layla, but from now on, I unilaterally declare that he’s not worthy of being with Layla
