Chapter 34 

Dominick was greatly iritated by Ethan’s attitude and tone as if he considered Lola his own. 

Dominick’s deep eyes darkened significantly, harboring a fury that he forcefully suppressed. 

Had he not been concerned about Lola’s unstable emotions at the moment, Dominick would have definitely fought Ethan for her, 

The two men stood off for a long while until Dominick spoke up with a restrained voice. “Leave her here, I will take good care of her 

Ethan then scoffed as if he had just heard a joke, and his eyes couldn’t hide his mockery. “Take good care of her? Mr. Sinclair, didn’t you find it funny when you said that?” 

Dominick’s gaze then fell on the frail Lola, 

Her body was almost entirely covered in wounds, with blood nearly turning her white dress red. Lola’s face, as small as a palm, was so pale, her breathing so faint it seemed as though she might silently vanish from the world at any moment. 

The irony of the promise to “take good care of her” stung sharply. 

Dominick was only briefly lost in thought, and E 

Ethan had already promptly taken Lola and left without any hesitation. 

“Wait! You can’t take Lola away!” Dominick exclaimed. 

He tried to follow, but his legs felt as heavy as if weighed down by a thousand pounds, and after only a few steps, he fell heavily to the ground. 

Dominick was covered in the strong scent of blood, his strength and consciousness fading with the loss of blood, yet his gaze remained fixed on the direction Lola was taken. 

His hand slightly raised as if trying to hold onto something, only to fall back down as his large body hit the ground. 

Lola was getting further away, and Dominick was powerless to keep her. 

It felt as though everything he had done these days was an illusion, and everything had returned to its original state. 

Dominick knew that Lola wouldn’t come back for the sake of such trivial matters. He had truly lost her. 

Even as she quietly settled in Ethan’s arms, Dominick felt intense jealousy, yet he had no right to act on it. 

This feeling of powerlessness was something Dominick had never experienced before, just like now, lacking even the strength to chase after Lola. 

“Why put yourself through this, Mr. Sinclair?” The woman who had been silently standing by finally spoke, her robe flashing before his eyes before she stopped 

Her expression, hidden behind a vell, was mysterious, but her eyes could not conceal her compassion. 

After a moment of struggle and indecision, she sighed, albeit not very noticeably, and turned to look at Dominick lying on the ground. 

The woman crouched down and skillfully examined his wounds. Upon confirming that they were not life–threatening, her furrowed brows relaxed slightly. 

The woman seemed to want to say something but hesitated. 

She finally said, “Lola has a severe psychological disorder, especially during thunderstorms. She could break down at any moment.” 

She looked at Dominick lying on the ground with a complex gaze, her eyes.conveying a complexity that contradicted her words. 

The woman continued, “This condition of Lola is severe. At best, it could lead to mental incapacity. At worst, it can put her into a vegetative state. And the 

root of it all… 

“Is you.” 

The woman then slowly stood up and said, “If you keep appearing in front of her, it will only worsen her condition. With that, she left without hesitation. 

Upon hearing that, Dominick’s eyes abruptly narrowed as he thought, “So, it’s all because of me. Lola started self harming two year ago. I had lost the right to be by her side.” 

His vision gradually blurred, but the woman’s departing silhouette strangely overlapped with the memory of his mother leaving him behind.

Dominick frowned, trying to get a clear look at the wontan moving further away, but his consciousness became increasingly weak until he finally lost 

consciousness. 

In his memory, Lola always carried the faint scent of gardenias. 

Her presence wasn’t imposing, yet her scent was enough to lighten his mood, it was subtle and fresh, gradually seeping into Dominick’s life until absence made him realize how accustomed he had become to iL 

Just then, he thought he caught the scent of gardenias at the tip of his nose, sparking a glimmer of hope and forcing his consciousness to focus as his eyes slowly opened 

However, he was met with disappointment. 

Dominick knew it was foolish to think Lola could be there. 

It was just Lola’s scent lingering on the blanket. It reminded him of her departure, making his heart ache terribly. 

Henry said, “Mr. Sinclair, you’re finally awake. 

“Mrs. Sinclair and Mr. White haven’t returned to Royal Haven. They’ve left.” 

Upon hearing Henry’s voice beside him, Dominick masked the turmoil in his eyes and propped himself up against the headboard.

He looked troubled, as if he was lost in deep thoughts. 

Lola would have had no guards up in her state of distress, and whatever she said would have been her true words deep inside. 

Dominick vividly remembered how she kept saying it wasn’t her who pushed Jessica last night. Lola’s eyes were even filled with a mix of grievance and a desperate desire to be believed. 

He pondered, ‘If Lola really had pushed Jessica, why would she keep repeating those words in her delirium?‘ 

The words Lola kept repeating and the sudden disappearance of Brenda, who had always hidden the truth, all seemed to remind Dominick that was more to the story. 

He wondered, ‘Could it be…‘

Dominick’s deep gaze then turned ice cold as he thought, if what Lola said is true, even offering my life in return wouldn’t make up for the injustice she 

has suffered.’ 

“Mr. Sinclair? Are you alright? Maybe we should go to the hospital, your injuries are quite severe,” Henry asked with concern as he leaned in slightly. 

“Go check on someone for me,” Dominick commanded in a deep voice without responding to Henry’s question,

Henry paused. “Whom?” 

“Jessica,” Dominick stated. 

Henry thought he had misheard since Dominick had always trusted Jessica. This sess the first time Dominick hard surgeted investigating

All that remained was the lingering pain of his injuries, a reminder that Lola had been there but had left without a trace. 

“Frank, by now you should see how the situation is unfolding. Today it’s the Moore family; tomorrow it will be your Sinclair family,” Gary said with a light huff. 

Frank frowned deeply. “So, you’re here to discuss a strategy?” 

Gary straightened up, his eyes holding a deep meaning. He replied, “Of course. Honestly, even with Dom’s investment, it’s clear to both of us that the Moore Group won’t last much longer. Once it falls, the Horizon Group will target you next. 

“But if our families join through marriage and unite against the Horizon Group, we’re sure to turn the tables! 

*Since Dom and Jessica have already committed to each other, why not have them marry soon?”
