Chapter 3 Old Hag

When the maids saw Agnes return, some greeted her, some kept chatting and laughing, and some simply continued their work without even looking up.
But no one went to the door to help with her luggage.
Because Raymond disliked Agnes. Naturally, the servants in the house didn’t respect this “Mrs. Newton” in name only either.
When Raymond was home, they behaved with perfect manners.
But the moment he left, most of them ignored Agnes’s orders or brushed them off.
Agnes had never liked arguing. She had a soft personality. To them, she was an easy target, so they grew bold.
Everyone knew the lady of this mansion would be replaced sooner or later.
“Linda! Take my luggage to my room.”
The lively mansion suddenly went silent. Dead silent.
Did we hear that right? Agnes actually ordered from Linda?
Among all the staff, Linda Hunter had the longest seniority. She’d worked for the Newtons for decades.
The Newtons trusted her deeply. That was why they transferred her from the family estate to serve Raymond and Agnes here.
With her seniority–and Raymond’s respect–she openly neglected Agnes.
On the surface, Agnes was the lady of the house. But behind the scenes, Linda acted like the real boss. Everyone listened to her.
She was harsh with Agnes, always making her do this or that, claiming it was the
Newtons’s instructions.
Agnes had always been meek. She never fought back. Whatever Linda said, she obeyed. Everyone stood frozen. What’s going on today? Agnes actually dared to order Linda to carry her luggage?
At home, Linda never did housework herself. She only directed others.
She would personally serve Raymond–but only when he returned.
“Mrs. Newton, I didn’t hear clearly. What did you just say?” Linda asked again, suspecting she misheard.
“I said you–Linda–take my luggage to my room. Now.”
The warmth on Agnes’s face was gone. The fierce look she wore now was something no one had ever seen

Linda said. “Mrs, Newton we’re all sad about your baby. But you can’t come home and take your anger out
on us servants.
“If Mr. Newton comes back, he definitely won’t be happy.”
“Why would he be unhappy?” Agnes replied. “About a maid carrying my luggage? Servants should do their jobs.
“Linda, am I the lady of this house–or are you? What, I can’t order you around now?”
“Of course… you are…” Linda’s face flushed red. She’d been arrogant for so long–she’d never been talked to like this.
“Then what are you waiting for? Go.”
“…Yes, Mrs. Newton.”
Linda swallowed her anger and reluctantly went to get the luggage.
She was old, and the suitcase was heavy. She struggled to carry it. Someone nearby tried to help, but Agnes shot them a chilling look that made them back off instantly.
Agnes watched Linda with satisfaction, the corners of her mouth rising uncontrollably.
Old hag. Always stirring trouble. Today, you’re the first one I’m dealing with. I’ll settle the rest with you later.
The other servants stared in shock. What happened to Mrs. Newton? Did the hospital change her or something?
Linda used all her strength to drag the suitcase upstairs. By the time she came down, she was already panting heavily.
Just as she was about to rest, Agnes called out again.
“Done already? Linda, go make that premium collagen drink from the family estate. I want some later.”
r Agnes sat on the living room couch, sipping coffee like she didn’t have a care in the world. She smiled sweetly at Linda.
Linda’s face changed at once. Her eyes shifted around, and she started to stammer.
“Mrs. Newton… that… collagen drink… I made it for you last time. It’s already gone.”
“That box wasn’t that small,” Agnes said lightly. “There’s no way it’s gone after one serving. Linda, how did you make it? Don’t tell me you drank it yourself.”
Agnes’s eyes curved as she stared at her. Her look was full of teasing and sarcasm.
“I–I didn’t!” Linda said right away. “Mrs. Newton, you can’t accuse me like that! I’ve worked for the Newtons for decades.

Chapter 3 Philau
“Everyone in the family knows what kind of person I am. What you’re saying is too much!”
Linda had no idea what was wrong with Agnes today. She had suddenly turned sharp and difficult,
When Raymond got back, she would definitely complain. This was going too far.
“Is that so?” Agnes said calmly. “Someone go search Linda’s room. Look through everything”
The servants in the mansion froze. Normally, they all followed Linda’s orders.
In their eyes, aside from Raymond, Linda was the real boss.

And now Agnes was telling them to search her room? Even if they had ten times the courage, they still wouldn’t dare.
Agnes noticed their hesitation, but she wasn’t in a hurry. She took another small sip of coffee.
“What’s wrong? Don’t want to work here anymore?” she said slowly. “In this house, I’m the lady. I’m the real Mrs. Newton.

“If you leave and work somewhere else, I promise no one will pay you better than the Newtons.
“Think about it. Who pays your salary–the Newtons or Linda?”
The servants looked at each other. After a moment, a few of them set down their work and walked toward Linda’s room.
“Mrs. Newton! How can you do this?! You can’t just search someone’s room! I’m telling Mr. Newton!
“We may be servants, but we still have dignity. What you’re doing is humiliating!”
She ran over and blocked the door to her room, her eyes red.
“Pull her away. Keep searching,” Agnes said lazily.
“Ahhh! Help! Someone help! They’re killing me! Mr. Newton won’t forgive you when he comes back!
“What are you doing? Hey! Let go! Let go!”
Linda was already old. She couldn’t fight against the younger servants. Soon, they dragged her aside. The servants searched the whole room and brought out a pile of things to the living room. Premium collagen drinks. PQQ products. All kinds of expensive supplements. All of them were very costly.
With a servant’s salary, there was no way she could afford things like that.
Everyone understood right away. Linda had clearly been sneaking things into her room for a long time.
But what she never expected was this–the soft and quiet Agnes had suddenly become strong and fierce. The weak girl had turned into a queen overnight.
