Love After Leaving: No Regret
Chapter 243 A Brewing Storm
“Oh, thank God, Calvin, you’re finally awake! Sob…”
Monica supported Bianca, who was crying uncontrollably, as they entered the hospital room.
The moment Monica saw Agnes there, she rolled her eyes in annoyance and muttered under her breath, “Gosh, she’s like a ghost that just won’t go away.”
Bianca threw herself onto Calvin, crying hysterically as she sobbed, “You almost scared me to death!
“I shouldn’t have argued with you, shouldn’t have stopped you from rushing to divide the Hale shares to Ms Sinclair despite the board’s opposition.
“I was only thinking about you, thinking about our family! Sob…
“Why did you get so worked up? You even made yourself sick from anger. I was wrong. I won’t upset you again…”
Monica walked over, comforted her mother, then said to her father, “Dad, you’re finally awake. Do you even know how big a mess the Hales are in right now?”
The moment Bianca heard that, panic flashed across her face.
She immediately stood up and snapped, “Monica! Be quiet! Can’t you see your dad just woke up?”
Monica snapped, “That’s exactly why he needs to know right now!”
Bianca pointed at Monica angrily, crying as she said, “Monica! This is not the time for your tantrums! Go back right now!
“Whatever it is, we’ll talk about it after your dad recovers a bit. He just woke up. He can’t take the stress!”
Hearing their argument, Calvin, on the hospital bed, grew agitated.
His mouth twitched uncontrollably to one side, as if he was trying desperately to speak.
Bianca held his shoulders and tried to calm him.
“Calvin, don’t listen to Monica’s nonsense. She’s young and impulsive. There’s nothing going on. Don’t get upset.”
But Monica raised her voice even louder from behind.
“Dad! Even if Mom won’t let me say it, I still will! Our family is in serious trouble! People have died!”
Bianca rushed over and slapped Monica hard across the face. “Get out!”
Sure enough, Calvin’s entire body began to tremble violently. Agnes quickly stepped forward and pressed the emergency button.
Within moments, a group of doctors and nurses rushed in and ushered everyone out of the room,
They conducted a full check on Calvin and administered a sedative.
Bianca stood outside, looking through the window, tears streaming down her face.
She turned to Monica with a hint of blame and demanded, “Monica, didn’t we agree before coming here that we’d tell your dad later?
“What were you thinking? Look at what you’ve done to him!”
Biting her lower lip, Monica continued, “Do you even know? Dad invested in a pharmaceutical research institute before. They had a project developing anti-cancer drugs, and recently… something went wrong.
“During clinical trials, because of that drug, five people died!”
Agnes froze for a moment, her expression turning serious. “What? Five people died?”
That was a severe medical incident. No wonder Bianca had been trying to stop Monica from saying anything earlier.
Monica nodded. “Yes! Now the FDA and the police have both started investigating the Hales!
“All of our assets have been frozen!
“Yesterday, my mom received notice that the medical institute Dad partnered with is suspected of falsifying patent documents.
“And on those documents… is Dad’s signature. Dad is finished! The Hales are finished too!”
Agnes stood there, stunned. Her father had just been pulled back from the brink of death.
And now, it felt like everything was about to be dragged straight into hell again.
Five deaths. Falsified medical documents. This was far beyond simple fines or compensation.
Monica wasn’t wrong. This time, the Hales were facing a massive crisis.
Bianca sobbed uncontrollably and said to Agnes, “Ms. Sinclair, I know you won’t just stand by and do nothing when it comes to your dad…”
