Following the path to the right, the group began their ascent up Chimu Peak.
Lan Yao’s men led the way, with the others following behind them.
Even though some of the Elf Clan were native to this area, they still walked with extreme caution.
After walking for a full two hours, a blanket of black mist descended from the sky, blocking their path entirely.
"Not good, it’s the black mist of an Exotic Beast!"
Upon hearing this, Gu Sheng and the others quickly used their Divine Power to prepare for defense.
The elves rushed forward, firmly surrounding them in the middle.
At that moment, the black mist dispersed, revealing two ferocious Exotic Beasts before them.
The creatures were exceptionally large, covered in sharp spikes. A single encounter with them would turn anyone into mincemeat!
"These Exotic Beasts are so formidable. Is there any way to counter them?"
Hearing Lan Yao’s question, the native elves sighed continuously.
"Young Master, we’ve never battled these creatures before, and we don’t know their weaknesses."
"What do we do then?"
"We can only grit our teeth and fight head-on."
Realizing they had no solution, Gu Sheng quickly stepped forward.
He waved his hand, and a small tripod immediately shielded them from above.
Noticing his action, the Exotic Beasts roared, seemingly warning him not to act rashly.
Gu Sheng looked at them, noting the strong killing intent in their eyes. He quickly drew the Fire Spirit Dagger.
"We’re here for the Spirit Grass and have no intention of invading your territory. If you let us pass, we’ll leave immediately."
After Gu Sheng spoke, the beasts roared again, the killing intent in their eyes intensifying.
It was clear they had no intention of backing off.
As the Exotic Beasts inched closer, Gu Sheng tried to explain further.
However, the creatures completely ignored his words.
Gu Sheng knew that creatures of such size must have developed intelligence. Given their disregard for his words, it was evident they were prepared to kill.
Instead of retreating, Gu Sheng advanced with the Fire Spirit Dagger.
The two beasts charged at him simultaneously, rolling towards him like iron balls.
Seeing the rotating spikes, Gu Sheng was startled and quickly jumped into the air. Seizing the opportunity, the Fire Spirit Dagger pierced one of the beasts heavily!
With a bang, the beast stopped rolling, but Gu Sheng’s strike only scratched its fur, causing no substantial damage.
As Gu Sheng prepared to retreat, the beast roared again, suddenly leaping up and rolling towards him mid-air.
Witnessing the scene, Gu Sheng’s expression changed rapidly, and he hurried to a safe landing spot.
With trees blocking its path, the beast was momentarily trapped.
With a pop, the beast’s skull split in two, spilling red and white matter, covering the ground.
The moment the blood was entirely drained, the beast fell with a thunderous crash.
Having found a way to kill the creatures, Gu Sheng continued using the same method, successfully slaying two more Exotic Beasts.
After finishing the last one, he leaned against a tree, panting heavily.
Shi Lou and the others rushed over to support him.
"Brother Sheng, are you okay?"
Seeing their anxious faces, Gu Sheng waved his hand with a smile.
"I’m fine, it’s just that dodging the Exotic Beasts drained a bit of my energy."
Hearing he was okay, everyone breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
Lan Yao stepped forward admiringly, "Gu Sheng, you were incredible, taking down two beasts single-handedly."
After speaking, the native elves nodded in agreement.
"Truly impressive. These beasts are mighty; to us, they were virtually invincible, with no clear points to attack since their entire bodies are covered in spikes. We’ve lived here for so many years without discovering their head as their weakness. Yet, you managed to defeat two in succession, which is truly admirable."
As they spoke, their tones and attitudes completely changed, no longer cold and distant, but exceedingly respectful.
After this battle, it was clear they’d placed Gu Sheng on the same level as Lan Yao.
Looking at them, Gu Sheng simply waved his hand with a smile.
